Go behind the scenes with the author of award-winning graphic novels and comics including “American Born Chinese,” “Shang-Chi,” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”

Join the Asian Art Museum on Saturday, January 7th for an afternoon with Gene Luen Yang, author and illustrator of the award-winning graphic novels “American Born Chinese” (soon to be a Disney series starring Michelle Yeoh) and “Boxers and Saints,” as well as comic books including “Shang-Chi,” “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” and DC Comics’ “Superman.” Like the exhibition artist Kongkee, Yang’s work often reimagines historical events and figures, suggesting new connections between the past and the present. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the process, practice, and current projects of one of the most exciting Asian American voices working in comics today.

There will be a book signing following the program. Books are available for purchase in the Cha May Ching Museum Boutique.
