Press Release:
Dark Horse Comics is proud to announce Work Horse: Art by the People Who Make Your Comics, an employee art exhibition at Sequential Art Gallery + Studio in Portland.
Dark Horse staff members are always working with art in some capacity, but contrary to popular belief, not all are in-house illustrators. After several discussions between employees, it was discovered that there are many talented, artistic employees in all departments who work outside of the office in mediums ranging from paint, photography, and digital art to sculpture and embroidery.
Sequential Art Gallery + Studio, which has previously shown artwork by illustrators Tyler Crook (Harrow County, Bad Blood), Joëlle Jones (Lady Killer, Dr. Horrible), and Ben Dewey (Husbands, Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9), has teamed up with Dark Horse to showcase the artwork of those who produce, promote, and sell our comics. The exhibition gives Dark Horse staff the opportunity to put their own awesome work on display, including pieces by Conley Presler (Digital Art), Ethan Kimberling (Design), Rhiannon Rasmussen-Silverstein (Production), Melissa Martin (Digital Art), Rick DeLucco (Design), Kelly Woessner (Marketing), and more!
“Dark Horse is known for nurturing artistic expression in our creators and artists. I’m proud to extend Dark Horse employees the opportunity to showcase their artistic excellence in the Dark Horse art show. We don’t just make comics; we make art,” says Dark Horse publisher and president Mike Richardson.
The exhibition will run December 1–26, 2016. The opening reception is December 1, 2016, at 6 p.m. at Sequential Art Gallery + Studio, 328 NW Broadway #113, Portland, Ore.
