Cartoonist Kate Beaton appears at the Housing Works Bookstore Cafe on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 7:00 PM!
You’re invited to the launch of Kate Beaton‘s Step Aside, Pops, a new Hark! A Vagrant collection. Kate will be joined in conversation by Alexandra Zsigmond, art director for the New York Times Opinion section. A Q&A and book signing will follow.
Kate Beaton’s first collection, Hark! A Vagrant, was an unequivocal hit, spending five months on the New York Times bestseller list; topping best-of-the-year lists from E!, Amazon, Time, and more; and winning the hearts of hundreds of thousands of fans. Kate Beaton returns with a refined pen in Step Aside, Pops, ready to make jokes at the expense of hunks, army generals, scientists, and Canadians in equal measure. Irreverently funny and carefully researched, no target is safe from Beaton’s incisive wit in these satirical strips. With a few carefully placed lines, she captures the over-the-top evil of the straw feminists in the closet, the disgruntled dismay of Heathcliff, and Wonder Woman’s all-conquering ennui. Step Aside, Pops is sharp, insightful, and very funny. Come prepared to laugh!
