Boston Comic Arts Foundation presents the 2nd Annual Young Artists Comics Fest at the Ashland Public Library on Saturday, March 21st! You all know what a comic book fest is, but this one is special in that it will feature Young Artists – kids 8-18 who are making their own comics and now will have the opportunity to sell them. You can view the schedule for the day HERE.
If you are a comic creator between the ages of 8-18, we are now accepting applications to table and sell your comics at the Fest. Please apply HERE. Application deadline is March 17.
We are thrilled to welcome headliners Lincoln Peirce (author of the Big Nate series) and Kayla Miller (author of Click, Camp, Act and the popular Besties series). Lincoln and Kayla will both be leading workshops for the kids!
Workshop leaders and exhibitors include:
-Jerel Dye (Science Comics and Einstein)
-Caroline Hu (Who Discovered How to Breathe Underwater? Jacques Cousteau)
-Shaina Lu (Noodle & Bao)
-Vero Stewart (Bizarre Birds)
-Stephanie Williams (Marvel, DC, Nubia: Queen of the Amazons)
-Shelli Paroline & Braden Lamb (Adventure Time and Katie the Catsitter)
-Dave London & Pete Chianca (Pet Peeves and Strip Search Podcast)
In addition, cartoonist Bob Flynn (Spongebob) will be doing a special workshop in memory of comic Dan Moynihan – we’ll be drawing dinosaurs!
We are excited to have CalmerCon at our event to support kids who might need a break from the festivities.
Since this event is in the “Winter” (you know, New England, we could have a snowstorm or a heat wave, we’re excited that Trolley Dogs Food Truck will be in our parking lot offering yummy foods for all ages – but we’ll have spaces inside for you to come in and eat. And there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance if you’d like to explore a bit. We’re also pleased to welcome back SubZero Nitrogen Ice Cream which will be featuring “cold weather” flavors – exciting, right?
We are thrilled that our Fest is sponsored by the Boston Kids Comics Fest, which is under the umbrella of the Boston Comics Arts Foundation. Registration and donations go through a BCAF portal.
Logo design by winner of our logo contest, Ashland student, Riya Dubey!
This program is supported by the Friends of the Ashland Public Library.
