The Cartoon Art Museum marks the 75th anniversary of Mort Walker’s Beetle Bailey with a Sunday afternoon Toon Talk with Mort’s son, cartoonist and historian Brian Walker, on Sunday, February 15, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00pm in a special event that is included with Cartoon Art Museum admission and free for Cartoon Art Museum members. Walker looks back on his life in cartoons with stories, artwork, and an insider’s look at growing up with a world-famous cartoonist for a father and going into the family business.
The award-winning historian will also share highlights from his two latest books, Mort Walker’s Beetle Bailey: 75 Years of Smiles, an illustrated history published by Fantagraphics books celebrating one of the most popular comic strips of all time, and the new and revised edition of Mort Walker’s The Lexicon of Comicana, originally published in 1980, but updated and edited by Brian Walker with a new introduction by Chris Ware, published by New York Review Books.
Mort Walker’s Beetle Bailey: 75 Years of Smiles and The Lexicon of Comicana will be available for purchase at the event. You can pre-order these books and reserve your seat through the following link.
