Join the Cary Graphic Arts Collection on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 6pm for an evening with three award-winning comics artists who have each created acclaimed graphic novels and memoirs. Briana Loewinsohn, Thien Pham, and Gene Luen Yang will discuss their art, characters, and comics in a conversation moderated by Professor Daniel Worden. A reception and book signing will follow on the first floor of the Wallace Library and in the Cary Collection’s Kubert Lounge and Gallery.

All three artists began their careers creating DIY minicomics. The minicomics movement of the late 20th and early 21st centuries is the subject of the Cary Collection’s fall exhibition, Self-Published Worldwide, and features collections generously donated by Loewinsohn, Pham, and Yang.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Please register for the event at the link.

Briana Loewinsohn is the author of the critically acclaimed Ephemera: A Memoir. Her most recent graphic novel Raised By Ghosts has been nominated for a Harvey Award for Best Young Adult Book.
