Part literary event, part experimental theater—this remarkable evening will bring Jarrett J. Krosoczka’s HEY, KIDDO to life on the Northampton High School stage on Friday, March 21st at 6:30pm! Actors will line the stage, delivering lines from this acclaimed and trailblazing graphic memoir as artwork from the book splashes across the screen. Soundscapes and embedded sound effects will transport the audience into the story of family, addiction, identity, and resilience.
This raw and expressive story recounts Krosoczka’s childhood growing up with his grandparents while navigating the absence of his mother, who struggles with heroin addiction, and the mystery of his largely absent father. HEY, KIDDO is a story about longing, love in imperfect circumstances, and, ultimately, the power of art as a means of survival and self-discovery.
