Born in 1978 in Saitama, Japan, Yoichi Nishikawa is a celebrated Studio Ghibli background artist known for drawing inspiration from personal experiences to bring warmth and familiarity to his work. Dubbed “The Painter of Clouds,” his mastery in depicting skies has made him a vital part of Studio Ghibli for nearly 20 years. Nishikawa’s talent shines in over 30 projects, including Love Live!!, Howl’s Moving Castle, Wolf Children, and the Oscar-winning The Boy and the Heron.
