Join famous Brazilian comic book artist VITOR CAFAGGI on Tuesday, October 1st at 6:30 PM before the chaos of New York Comic Con where he’ll discuss his career, from the recently released collection of his breakout hit newspaper comic strip VINCENT to the recently successful TURMA DA MONICA movie based on his own series. He will also discuss the importance of the Brazilian comic scene and its impact on the global comic book market.
There will be a Q&A following the talk, as well as a signing for both VINCENT BOOK ONE and VINCENT BOOK TWO. From board games to limited edition statues to even a roast beef sandwich named after him, VINCENT is a cultural phenomenon in Brazil that Papercutz Graphic Novels is honored to bring to the US for the first time. VINCENT is Vitor’s breakout newspaper strip turned graphic novel about the titular canine as he learns that love and loss aren’t as easy as the RPGs that he plays. A raw, heartbreaking coming of age story, VINCENT proves that comics and love are a universal language.
Vitor Cafaggi is a professor of visual narrative, script and character development in Minas Gerais, Brazil. His debut to the world of comics was with the webcomic Puny Parker, which narrated the childhood of his favorite hero, Spider-Man. He gained notoriety in his country with the graphic novels inspired by Brazilian super-property Turma da Mônica (Monica and Friends) and the comic strip Valente (Vincent) published by the Brazilian newspaper O Globo. Vitor has won the HQ Mix trophy multiple times for his excellence in comic art.
