MICE 2018 Welcomes Vera Brosgol

Please welcome our first MICE 2018 special guest: Vera Brosgol! Vera’s latest graphic novel Be Prepared chronicles her childhood experience as an immigrant to US attending a Russian Orthodox summer camp. Vera’s sweet and witty work has gathered many accolades, including an Eisner Award for her first graphic novel, Anya’s Ghost (First Second Books), and a Caldecott Honor for her first picture book, Leave Me Alone (Roaring Brook Press).

After studying classical animation at Sheridan College Vera Brosgol spent many years working in feature animation. She has storyboarded for Laika on the stop-motion feature films Coraline, Boxtrolls, and Kubo and the Two Strings, as well as for Cartoon Network, Frederator and various commercial projects. Vera now writes and illustrates books full-time in Portland, Oregon.

Vera will appear in MICE’s Atrium exhibition area on October 20-21, 2018 at University Hall (1815 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA).
