Expanding its presence at the SOMArts Cultural Center, 934 Brannan Street, the fourth annual Queer Comics Expo (QCE) will take place on Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 11am to 5pm.
This fourth QCE will expand beyond the Bay Gallery and Classroom space used last year at SOMArts to include its Theater space and Board Room, which allows for additional exhibitors and programming. “Thanks to the Queer Cultural Center’s introduction to SOMArts last year, we were able to strengthen that location partnership and enable the Queer Comics Expo to expand and practically double our capacity from last year,” explained Nina Taylor Kester, the event’s Co-Founder and Program Coordinator at the Cartoon Art Museum.
QCE is proud to be part of the Queer Cultural Center’s annual National Queer Arts Festival for the fourth consecutive year. The expo also serves as a fundraiser for the Cartoon Art Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to fostering the next generation of visual storytellers by celebrating the history of cartoon art, its role in society, and its universal appeal.
This Friday, April 14, 2017, additional teaser announcements will be shared during the 9am webcomics panel at the Queers & Comics Conference to which Taylor Kester is an Advisory Board Member. Additional official announcements will follow in the coming weeks.
