The Astoria Bookshop is pleased to announce a reading and signing with local author and actor, Mara Wilson for her new memoir Where Am I Now?: True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame on Wednesday, September 14 at 7 PMĀ in conjunction with the Brooklyn Book Festival Bookend programming. Where Am I Now? is a hilarious and authentic journey from ā€œthe coolest girl to ever dump Hollywoodā€ (Refinery29). Mara opens up about her life as a child star, losing her mother at a young age, and her bumpy journey into womanhood. This is an open event, however Mara Wilson will only be signing copies of Where Am I Now? and attendees who purchase their copy from The Astoria Bookshop will be prioritized in the signing line. The Astoria Bookshop is now taking pre-orders for Where Am I Now?.

Mara Wilson is a writer, playwright, actor and storyteller perhaps best known as the little girl from Mrs. Doubtfire, Miracle on 34th Street, and Matilda. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of Arts, she regularly appears at live storytelling and comedy shows, including her own, What Are You Afraid Of? Her writing can be found on Jezebel, The Toast, McSweeney’s, the Daily Beast, and Cracked.com, and on her blog,Ā MaraWilsonWritesStuff.com. She has appeared on Broad City and the popular podcast Welcome to Night Vale, and will guest star on upcoming episodes of BoJack Horseman. She lives in New York City.
