Press Release:
Frank (Joel Murray, Mad Men) is fed up, sick of how the relentlessly cruel superficiality of reality television and political talk shows has seeped into everyday life. He’s had it with his next-door neighbors, who bicker and spout ill-informed opinions at all hours of the night. He’s tired of hearing his coworkers mindlessly repeat the most trivial celebrity gossip and obsess over the latest fads. It’s enough to give a guy a headache. But when his doctor informs him that his headaches are caused by a terminal brain tumor, Frank decides he may as well take out a few of the most repugnant members of society before he dies. Then he meets Roxy, a sweet-faced, petite teenager whose disgust over the collapse of American society might actually outmatch his own.
Writer, director, and comedian Bobcat Goldthwait (WORLD’S GREATEST DAD, IFFBoston 2009) brings his trademark acerbic wit to his latest black comedy. Gleefully misanthropic, GOD BLESS AMERICA skewers our media-obsessed, self-centered, materialistic culture with an over-the-top vigilante fantasy.
