MoCCA Arts Festival Presents the Wacom Lounge

The Society of Illustrators is proud to announce Wacom as a sponsor at this year’s MoCCA Arts Festival. Wacom specializes in pen tablets, interactive pen displays and other types of input devices, and will be exhibiting the Cintiq 22HD, Cintiq Companion, Cintiq Companion Hybrid, Intuos Pro, Intuos and Intuos Creative Stylus in the Wacom Lounge, a dedicated space next to the Exhibitor Hall. The general public is invited to play and experiment with Wacom products along side artists. Tim Hamilton, James Yang, and Guest of Honor Fiona Staples will be giving demos throughout the day on Saturday. Kris Mukai, Nick Illuzada, and and illustrators Julia Lepetit, Caldwell Tanner, and Nathan Yaffe will be at the Lounge on Sunday.

Tim Hamilton
Tim Hamilton lives in Brooklyn, NY, and has produced work for The New York Times, Cicada Magazine, King Features, Marvel, IDW, BOOM, DC Comics, Mad Magazine, Nickelodeon Magazine, Dow Jones, Lifetime, ABC Television, Holiday House, Fast Company Magazine and PublicAffairs. He adapted “Treasure Island” into a graphic novel for Puffin Graphics. In 2010 he adapted Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 into a graphic novel for Hill & Wang with Mr. Bradbury’s blessing. The resulting book was nominated for an Eisner award in the “Best Adaptation of Another Work” category. His first children’s book The Big Fib was just published by Holiday House, and he’s currently working his third picture book for them. Tim was once a clue on the quiz show Jeopardy.

James Yang
Born and raised in Oklahoma, James Yang graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University. Within a few years of entering the illustration marketplace, prestigious trade publications began to show or feature his work: Communication Arts Design & Illustration Annuals, 3×3 Magazine, Graphis, HOW, Print’s Regional Design Annual, Step x Step, and The Art Directors Club of New York Annual. Since 1983, James has won over 200 awards for design and illustration, including best of show in 2010 from 3×3. Mr. Yang most recently taught at Parsons School of Design in New York City. He continues to be in constant demand as a guest lecturer around the world. Yang moved to NYC in 1994 and now lives in Brooklyn where he lives happily married to acclaimed choreographer and dancer Abby Chan.

Fiona Staples
Fiona Staples is a comic book artist living in Calgary, Canada. She has illustrated numerous comics including Mystery Society, Done to Death, Secret History of the Authority: Hawksmoor, Jonah Hex, and Northlanders. She has contributed cover art to DV8, T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents, Criminal Macabre, Superman/Batman, Archie, and more. In March of 2012, Image Comics published the first issue of Saga, an ongoing series by Brian K. Vaughan, which received critical acclaim and for which she received two Eisner Awards, a Hugo Award, and several Harvey Awards.

Kris Mukai
Kris Mukai is an illustrator and cartoonist living in Brooklyn, NY. Kris writes comics about traveling and feeling uncomfortable. Find Kris at and

Nick Illuzada
Nick is an illustrator and designer from Brooklyn. He makes zines, pets puppies and watches far too much soccer. His clients include AT&T, EA Games, ESPN, Google, GQ, Microsoft, Nobrow, The NY Times, and Wired.

Founded in 1999, offers daily comedic content through videos, pictures, articles and jokes, both created and curated by the CollegeHumor staff. CollegeHumor’s popular sketches and series have generated more than 3 billion views, and earned CollegeHumor 11 Webby Awards and an ECNY Award, among others. In addition to online content, hllustrated Dorkly’s most-viewed piece of all time, “Pick Your Starter!: A Choose-Your-Own-Pokemon-Adventure,” which has been viewed more than 5 million times. Julia has voiced characters in many successful Dorkly Originals, Dorkly Bits, and CollegeHumor Originals. A freelance artist and illustrator in her spare time, Julia’s work has been published in magazines and comics. She graduated magna cum laude from FIT with a degree in Illustration.

Julia Lepetit
Julia Lepetit is a New york-based artist and the Head Illustrator for, where she has worked since 2010. In this role she illustrates and oversees all illustrated content for the site. She illustrated Dorkly’s most-viewed piece of all time, “Pick Your Starter!: A Choose-Your-Own-Pokemon-Adventure,” which has been viewed more than 5 million times. Julia has voiced characters in many successful Dorkly Originals, Dorkly Bits, and CollegeHumor Originals. A freelance artist and illustrator in her spare time, Julia’s work has been published in magazines and comics. She graduated magna cum laude from FIT with a degree in Illustration.

Caldwell Tanner
Caldwell Tanner is a New York-based writer and artist, currently working working as the Head Illustrator for In addition to overseeing all illustration on CollegeHumor, he has produced several of the site’s most popular articles and helped write, storyboard and voice a number of successful video series including CollegeHumor’s Dinosaur Office and Bear Shark, and Dorkly’s Pokemon Rusty. Caldwell’s work has also been featured in Nintendo Video, The New Yorker, CollegeHumor: The Website: The Book, and The Dumb Book (an upcoming Reader’s Digest publication). Nathan Yaffe
Nathan Yaffe is a New York-based Illustrator in the editorial department of, where he has worked since 2012. When he isn’t drawing or photoshopping, Nathan performs improvisational comedy and makes funny videos with his friends. Together with CollegeHumor’s Caldwell Tanner, Nathan hosts the daily drawing show Morning Drawfee, which can be seen on CollegeHumor’s Facebook page and on the new YouTube channel Drawcast.

About the Society of Illustrators
The Society of Illustrators, founded in 1901, is the oldest nonprofit organization solely dedicated to the art and appreciation of illustration in America. Prominent Society members have been Maxfield Parrish, N.C. Wyeth and Norman Rockwell, among others. The Museum of American Illustration was established by the Society in 1981 and is located in the Society’s vintage 1875 carriage house building in mid-town Manhattan. In 2012 the Society acquired the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. Fahrenheit 451 GN Launch Party
A launch party for the new graphic novel adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s classic story Fahrenheit 451 will be held at Bergen Street Comics in Brooklyn, NY on August 29. The party’s guest of honor will be Fahrenheit 451 artist Tim Hamilton, and festivities will run from 7 p.m. until closing. Bergen Street Comics is located at 470 Bergen Street, Brooklyn, NY, and the night’s festivities will be open free to the general public.
