UK – Bedlam Signing

To celebrate the launch of his new ongoing series from Image Comics, Nick Spencer will be signing copies of BEDLAM at Orbital Comics from 5-7pm on October 31st (Halloween).

Co-created with artist Riley Rossmo, the book tells the story of Madder Red, a serial killer who once terrorised the city of Bedlam. Now reformed, he seeks to reclaim his name and his identity as he faces the madness his reign of terror has left behind.

To coincide with the release of BEDLAM, Orbital will also be hosting an exhibition of work by artist Riley Rossmo (Green Wake, Rebel Blood, Wild Children). The exhibit also starts on October 31 and will run through until November 18.

UK – Marineman Signing

Artist Ian Churchill signs and opens an exhibition of art at Orbital Comics  on  Saturday August 11, 2012 at 4:00pm.

Orbital Comics is pleased to announce that superstar artist IAN CHURCHILL will be with us in-store on August 11 for an exclusive signing to launch his exhibition in our main gallery area.

Ian has worked professionally over the last three decades on some of Marvel and DC’s biggest characters, and is currently the regular artist on The Ravagers as part of DC’s New 52.

Outside of the Big Two, Ian has worked for numerous publishers, although his greatest achievement was the creation of MARINEMAN which launched from Image Comics in 2010.

You can see (and buy) work from throughout his illustrious career as part of the exhibition, as well as pick up back issues and trade paperbacks for the signing.

UK – FCBD: Transformers Signing

Writer Simon Furman, penciler Andrew Wildman, inker Stephen Baskerville, colourist John-Paul Bove and cover colourist Jason Cardy will be in store on Saturday 5th May from 12-2pm, where you can pick up a copy of Transformers Regeneration One #80.5, get it signed and have a chat with the team behind the book!

IDW are picking up where Marvel left off on The Transformers with their new Regeneration One series. It all restarts with issue #80.5 out this Free Comic Book Day!

Draw the World Together will be collecting donations at the signing with all proceeds going to the Make A Wish charity.

UK – Roger Langridge Art Show

 

Roger Langridge opens an art exhibition at Orbital Comics on April 28, 2012 at 4pm!

Few writer/artists are as prolific as Roger Langridge these days. Aside from writing the adaptation of John Carter: A Princess Of Mars for Marvel Comics, he’s also written and drawn the critically-acclaimed Snarked and The Muppets for Boom Studios, as well as gearing up for the relaunch of Popeye from IDW Publishing next month … In short, he’s a very busy guy.

Nevertheless he’s found time to host an exhibition here at Orbital Comics which will run from April 28 through to May 25, featuring some of his best and most recognisable work. In addition, Roger will be appearing in-store on the 28th from 4pm to sign, sketch and meet with fans. Whether you love his work on The Muppets, Fred The Clown, Snarked or Knuckles The Malevolent Nun, there really is something for everyone!

UK – Comica Conversation

This Saturday, November 26th, Orbital Comics will be hosting a Comica Conversation between graphic novelists Nicola Streeten and Sarah Leavitt.

Nicola and Sarah have each used comics to address traumatic, higly personal experiences in their lives – Sarah Leavitt’s moving graphic memoir Tangles, now out on Jonathan Cape, chronicles how Alzheimer’s disease transformed her mother, and those around her, forever. Nicola Streeten’s Billy, Me and You, just released by Myriad, is a retrospective reflection of the experiences of losing her two year old child thirteen years ago.

Comica has brought them together to discuss their experiences, and the use of comics to address such emotional subjects.

Both authors will also be signing their books afterwards. The talk starts at 7:30pm, so arrive early to make sure you get a seat!

UK – Angel & Faith Signing

 

Up-and-coming artist Rebekah Isaacs signs copies of her new comic Angel & Faith, as well as all her other previous works (including DV8 with Brian Wood) in her first international appearance on Saturday September 24th!

She’ll also be doing free (that’s right kids, free!) sketches, so make sure you get down early. The festivities will kick off at 3pm for one hour, but things may well overrun. See you there!
