Director/writer/producer Edgar Wright introduces his film, Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World on Friday, March 30th at 11pm and will do a Q&A and discussion between two of his films, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz on Saturday, March 31st at 6pm.

Each film is free for FSU students with a valid FSU ID, and $5 for the general public. It’s first-come, first-serve for these big events, so make sure you get to the theater early! We will not be selling tickets prior to the evening of the event.

LEELA CORMAN has illustrated books on subjects ranging from urban gardening to the history of the skirt, and her work has also appeared in The New York Times, on WNET/Thirteen, and in The Boston Phoenix, Lilith, Bust, and Tikkun. Comic-Con: A Fan’s Hope Tour Already Cancelled

Well, that didn’t take long. Just days after announcing 10 tour dates (and little details) about a series of mini-cons in support of the release “Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope,” the documentary about the San Diego Comic Con directed by Morgan Spurlock, word comes via The Beat that the whole tour has been cancelled  due to the typical “circumstances” beyond their control. They also say that Director Morgan Spurlock will be making in-person appearances at many of the theaters.

Tampa Bay Comic Con Has Arrived

February 27th, 2012 – The Tampa Bay Comic Con will return this weekend with its brand new two-day format convention. On March 3-4, 2012, convention attendees will be able to experience the Tampa Bay Comic Con’s plethora of brand new features and events!

Be sure to arrive early to pick-up a FREE Tampa Bay Comic Con exclusive poster featuring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes; The Avengers! It is an abstract, fun and colorful interpretation of the Avengers doing battle with a Florida gator atop the Sunshine State’s “flag bridge”–the Skyway Bridge. The poster was created by guest comic book artist, Mike Perkins. Not only did Perkins create the layout and action of the image, but hand-colored the pencil-work himself; it is from start to finish a 100% Perkins created image. The majority of posters were used a promotional tools leading up to the Tampa Bay Comic Con. Quantities to be given away at the Tampa Bay Comic Con are VERY limited (approximately 200 posters).

“Guest of honor” Jim Steranko has also recently confirmed his appearance for BOTH days of the convention, instead of the originally scheduled one-day appearance. Other guests will include: Mike Grell (Green Lantern, Warlord and Green Arrow), Mark Ryan (actor/ writer known for his work in the film series “Transformers” as Bumblebee and writer of  “The Pilgrim”), Mike Mayhew (Marvel Comics artist), Brian Kong (Marvel Comics artist), Peter Pachoumis (DC Comics artist), Pablo Marcos (Conan the Barbarian and Vampirella),  Mike Perkins (Captain America and Stephen King’s, “The Stand”) and  J. David Spurlock (Vanguard Productions).

Tampa Bay Comic Con will be held on Saturday and Sunday, March 3-4, 2012 at the Doubletree Hotel in Tampa, FL from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. Convention admission is $10.00 for adults and FREE for children (12 and under). Parking is FREE.
