MA – Finnegan Children’s Literature Lecture w/ Renee Kurilla

Press Release:

Artist and Lesley alumna Renée Kurilla has illustrated many books for kids including “Orangutanka: A Story In Poems” by Margarita Engle, “The Pickwicks’ Picnic” by Carol Brendler, and the Ada Lace series by Emily Calandrelli. Before transitioning to a full-time freelance career, she was a lead artist at FableVision Studios for nearly 10 years. Kurilla earned several awards for her work, including the graphic novel “Zebrafish,” a Junior Library Guild selection.

Kurilla will present a lecture about her experiences as an illustrator and her upcoming projects on Wednesday, April 25th at 4:00 PM. The lecture is free and open to the public.

These events are made possible by the generous support of Evelyn M. Finnegan ’48, a children’s books author, and her family. Lesley University’s outstanding children’s literature collection is named in her honor in recognition of her family’s philanthropic support. This lecture series is funded by the collection’s permanent endowment in conjunction with Sherrill Library and the Graduate School of Education’s Language and Literacy Division.
