Voltron’s Shiro & Allura Appear at MomoCon 2018

Excited about the Voltron Season 5 premiere on Netflix last week? Join us at MomoCon 2018 to meet Josh Keaton and Kimberly Brooks, the voices of Shiro and Allura!

Kimberly Brooks is an industry proven voiceover dynamo, gaining recognition for her performances on many respected animated shows and interactive video games, and has been performing since she was eight years old. She got her start in animation voiceover on Nickelodeon’s, Rugrats. She can also be heard on Netflix’s reboot of Voltron voicing Princess Allura, on Nickelodeon’s Winx Club voicing Stormy, on Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe as Jasper, on Comedy Central’s South Park as Classi, as well as many other animated shows. Kimberly’s work in interactive video games includes Ashley Williams on the Mass Effect Series. She can also be heard on the Batman: Arkham game series as the ORACLE, as well as the notable roles as Daisy Fitzroy in BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea and BAD JUJU in the more recent Skylanders: Imaginators. Kimberly will provide the first autograph free at MomoCon.

Josh Keaton was blessed by the gods (well, except Hades) not too long after he won the role of Young Hercules in Disney’s Hercules animated film. But that wasn’t enough to satiate his thirst for being awesome, and thus Josh proceeded to work his way up the ladder of being as many superhero voices as he could. He ended up lending his vocal performances to such iconic heroes as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in The Spectacular Spider-Man, and Hal Jordan in Green Lantern: The Animated Series. He sped his way into things such as Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths and DC Superhero Girls as The Flash, and voiced human Jack Darby, in Transformers: Prime. Recently, Josh decided all that still wasn’t enough for him, he had to have his own giant robot to bring justice to the entire galaxy! And so he stepped into the role of Shiro in the hit Dreamworks series Voltron: Legendary Defender, out now on Netflix. He has also started taking on smaller roles, such as Ant-Man in Avengers: Secret Wars. Yet, despite all of these previous voice over accomplishments and more (Like Revolver Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid 3, King Graham in the King’s Quest revival, Spyro in Skylanders, Valerian Mengsk in Starcraft II, King Anduin Wrynn in World of Warcraft, and Lann in World of Final Fantasy), he just had to give it all up and be the bad guy; namely Norman Osborn in the new animated series Marvel’s Spider-Man.  Josh will provide the first autograph free at MomoCon.

CA – World of Warcraft: Traveler Signing

000-world-of-warcraft-traveler-coverGreg Weisman (Young Justice, Star Wars Rebels, Gargoyles) appears at Chevalier’s Books in Los Angeles on Wednesday January 11th at 7:00 PM.

Press Release:

Celebrated comic book author and animation writer Greg Weisman – Disney’s Gargoyles is one of his creations! – will entice our younger readers by reading and signing this first book in a new series based on the bestselling game franchise. World of Warcraft®: Traveler starts the epic adventure by introducing the youthful characters as they discover the mysteries and majesty of the land of Azeroth. Step inside this richly layered world with Greg and join us for his reading, q&a and signing.

It’s been years since twelve-year-old Aramar Thorne, a clever boy who is never without his precious sketch book, has seen his father. So when Captain Greydon Thorne comes ashore and asks his son to join him at sea, it feels as if someone has redrawn Aram’s entire world. Before he knows it, Aram is aboard the Wavestrider with Lakeshire fading to a distant dot on the horizon. But the thrill of adventure quickly fades, as Greydon relentlessly schools Aram on how to handle his cutlass and how to relate with the strange and diverse creatures of Azeroth. In addition, Aram struggles to get along with the Wavestrider’s crew—especially second mate Makasa, a tough teenaged girl. Just as Aram starts to get his head above water, a band of vicious pirates attack the Wavestrider, turning his world upside down once again. As Aram tries to find his way home with his father’s compass in hand, he’ll travel across Azeroth’s beautiful and hostile terrain, encountering creatures both terrible and wondrous. But the journey is hindered by Greydon’s compass, which never points north. If the compass isn’t leading Aram and Makasa home–to safety–to what destiny is it leading them?

Greg Weisman has been a storyteller all his life. He’s best known as the creator of Disney’s Gargoyles and as a writer-producer on multiple animated series, including Young Justice, Star Wars Rebels, and W.I.T.C.H., and Marvel’s The Spectacular Spider-Man. He’s written multiple comic book series and two young adult novels, Rain of the Ghosts and Spirits of Ash and Foam.

CA – World of Warcraft Signing

000000000000-Daniel Lisi-WOW

Daniel Lisi discusses his new book World of Warcraft, with Jarett Kobek, Gabe Durham, Ashly + Anthony Burch and Brock Wilbur at Skylight Books on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 7:30 PM.

At more than 100 million user accounts created and over $10 billion made, it is not only the most-subscribed MMORPG in the world, but the highest-grossing video game of all time. Ten years after its launch, Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft is less a game and more a world unto itself, and it’s a world Daniel Lisi knows well. More time in his high school years was spent in Azeroth than in his hometown of Irvine, CA—a home he happened to share with Blizzard itself.

Now that Lisi has founded his own game development studio, WoW remains his most powerful example of just how immersive and consuming a game can be. Based on research, interviews, and the author’s own experience in a hardcore raiding guild, Lisi’s book examines WoW’s origins, the addictive power of its gameplay loop, the romances WoW has both cemented and shattered, the enabling power of anonymity, and the thrill of conquering BlizzCon with guildmates you’ve known for years and just met for the first time.
Daniel Lisi is the CEO and co-founder of Game Over, a video game development studio based in Los Angeles, CA. He’s a member of Art Share LA’s board of directors and facilitates an incubator for individual artists and their projects.

Jarett Kobek is a Turkish-American writer living in California. His novella ATTA was called “highly interesting,” by the Times Literary Supplement, has appeared in Spanish translation, been the subject of much academic writing, and was a recent and unexplained bestseller in parts of Canada. His most recent book is I Hate the Internet. Presently, he’s working on a book about Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s first album for Bloomsbury’s 33 1/3 series.

Gabe Durham is the founder, editor, and publisher of Boss Fight Books. His novel FUN CAMP was one of BuzzFeed’s 17 Books We Loved in 2013. He lives in Los Angeles, CA.

Ashly Burch is a voice actor and writer, and she speaks about representation and issues of gender and identity in the games industry. Anthony Burch was lead writer of Borderlands 2 for Gearbox Software and is currently a writer for Rocket Jump.

Brock Wilbur is a nightmare man with a heart of solid gold. Born in Salina, Kansas and booklearn’d at the Northwestern University in Chicago, Brock is a 6’7″ writer slash comedian now living in Los Angeles. He has some books and standup albums and films that you might enjoy, and you can track them all down on the internetwebs. He accepts tributes in the form of video games and gin — like an adult.
