WI – Garth Ennis Signing

Writer Garth Ennis (Jimmy’s Bastards, Preacher, Punisher MAX, The Boys, War Stories) will be signing at Kowabunga Comics on Saturday, October 28th! In addition to Garth will be Black Eyed Kids creator and Aftershock Comics Chief Creative Officer Joe Pruett and writer/artist Phil Hester.

Garth Ennis is a multi-award winning comic book writer  known for his love of graphic violence and black comedy. After taking over the reins of Judge Dredd, British Comics’ most recognizable character, from legendary Judge Dredd creator John Wagner, he exploded upon the American comic book market with credits that include HellblazerHitmanPunisherFuryCrossedBattlefieldsWar Stories, and The Boys. His legendary and hugely-influential DC Comics’ series PREACHER, which he co-created with artist Steve Dillon, has recently been given a pilot treatment by AMC. Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, he now lives in New York City with his wife, Ruth.

Joe Pruett is the COO and Publisher at Aftershock. Joe is an Eisner and Harvey nominated writer and editor for his work on Negative Burn. He is known for his turn at Marvel on X-Men Unlimited, Wolverine, and Cable. Currently, Joe writes Black Eyed Kids at Aftershock.

Phillip Hester has been writing and drawing comics for nearly three decades, beginning while still a student at the University of Iowa. After a period of toiling in the burgeoning world of black and white indie comics, he broke into the mainstream with a long run as artist of DC’s Swamp Thing with writer Mark Millar. At nearly the same time, he wrote and drew the Eisner Award nominated series The Wretch. In 2001, Phil drew Kevin Smith’s revival of DC’s Green Arrow. He wrote the original graphic novel The Coffin with artist Mike Huddleston, which was optioned for a feature film by James Cameron. At Image Comics, he created Firebreather with artist Andy Kuhn, which became an Emmy-winning television feature for Cartoon Network. His work, as both artist and writer, has been featured in hundreds of comics from nearly every major American publisher, and includes runs on such titles as The DarknessWonder WomanAnt-ManUltimate Marvel Team-UpNightwingInvincible UniverseBatman BeyondThe Flash: Season Zero, and his current Image project Mythic with artist John McCrea. Phil lives in rural Iowa with his family.

That’s Entertainment hosts AfterShock Comics creators Joe Pruett and Paul Jenkins for an in-store signing on Tuesday, September 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Pruett is an Eisner award-winning comic book publisher, editor, and writer; Jenkins is an widely-acclaimed writer and editor. The creative duo will be at 244 Park Ave. in Worcester, MA as part of their AfterShock Comics North American Tour, signing copies of their comic books work past and present, and promoting their upcoming titles at AfterShock. Admission and signatures are free, and all ages are welcome to attend.

Paul Jenkins has contributed to the comic book, video game, film, and television industry for over 30 years, playing a large role in the shaping of several Marvel characters. Early in his career, Jenkins edited comic titles for notable creators, such as Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Dave McKean, George Pratt, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.

Jenkins worked on Batman, and in 1994, he took over writing for another DC title Hellblazer for five years. He then went on to write for Marvel Comics for the greater part of his career. Some titles Jenkins is best known for having written under the Marvel imprint are Wolverine: Origin, Spectacular Spider-Man, Civil War: Frontline, World War Hulk, The Sentry, and Inhumans, which earned him an Eisner Award. He is currently writing Alters from AfterShock.

Jenkins has worked on several notable video games including the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, Prototype, Twisted Metal Black and the God of War series. He also wrote Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, created by Radical Entertainment; The Darkness, created by Starbreeze Studios, and The Darkness 2 by Digital Extremes.

THE MERRIMACK VALLEY HALLOWEEN BOOK FESTIVAL 2017 will be held on Saturday, October 21st, 2017, from 10am till 4:30pm. Once again, the event will be held at the Haverhill Public Library (Haverhill, MA) and is FREE and open to the public. Sponsored by River City Writers, Andover Bookstore, Haverhill House Publishing, and–of course–Haverhill Public Library.

UK – Doctor Who Comics Day 2017 Signing

Paul Cornell and James Peaty appear at Gosh Comics on Saturday, September 2nd for a signing from 4:00 – 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 2nd: Doctor Who Comics Day!

An annual international celebration of The Doctor in comics, Doctor Who Comics Day will be marked this year by a special crossover through the four ongoing titles (Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Doctors), entitled The Lost Dimension. It all kicks off with a special jump-on Alpha issue released the week of the event!

And to help celebrate we’ll have Doctor Who scribes Paul Cornell and James Peaty along to sign their work, including Paul’s 3rd Doctor TP, which he considers to be his final word on Doctor Who. Quite a landmark for a man who has helped shape the world of Doctor Who novels and comics since 1990!
