Writer Brian K. Vaughan (Saga, Y: The Last Man) and artist Steve Skroce (The Matrix, Doc Frankenstein) appear on Wednesday July 1st to celebrate the release of their new series WE STAND ON GUARD from Image at Meltdown Comics from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
It’s Canada vs. the U.S.A. in an international signing tour to promote the release of WE STAND ON GUARD #1, writer Brian K. Vaughan’s first new book since SAGA, and a return to comics for legendary Hollywood storyboard artist (and proud Canadian) Steve Skroce.
WE STAND ON GUARD is an action-packed military thriller about a futuristic conflict between Canada and the United States, so in honor of their story, the creators will be appearing together at two different signings, one in each of their home countries.
Ironically enough, Brian and Steve will be enjoying Canada Day, July 1st, in the United States, with an epic release party at the world-famous MELTDOWN COMICS in Los Angeles, CA from 7 to 9pm.
Even more ironically, they’ll then be spending their July 4th in Canada, at the acclaimed GOLDEN AGE COLLECTABLES in Vancouver, B.C. at 1:30pm.
Which signing will be better attended? Nobody knows, but whichever nation loses will be forced to keep Justin Bieber… forever.
Both events are free to the public, and the oversized 40-page first issue of WE STAND ON GUARD is only $2.99! Brian and Steve will be happy to sign whatever readers bring, time and lines permitting.
And if you’d rather not pick a side, Steve and Brian will also be appearing together at this year’s IMAGE EXPO, Thursday, July 2nd, on the relatively neutral ground of San Francisco, CA, at the Yerba Buena Center of the Arts. Tickets available right now at ImageComics.com!

David Lloyd signing Absolute V For Vendetta
Thursday 24 September 18:00 – 19:00
Forbidden Planet London Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR
Cementing Alan Moore’s reputation as comics’ foremost writer, V for Vendetta, illustrated by David Lloyd, now returns in a gorgeous, oversized Absolute edition with new material. Originally published in 1990, the story is both frightening and powerful, dealing with loss of freedom and individuality within a totalitarian England. Written against a background of third-term Thatcherism and tabloid rants against minorities, this is a work of startling clarity… everything that comics weren’t supposed to be. With new material including never-before-reprinted silent art pages, an expanded sketchbook, the original series back cover art, and the re-colouring of the 2005 deluxe hardback edition – this is the ultimate edition of a modern comic masterpiece.
Foremost comics illustrator David Lloyd has a bibliography that spans from V for Vendetta to Slaìne and Hellblazer and bringing to visual life the work of Alan Moore, Jamie Delano, Garth Ennis and Grant Morrison. His own crime-noir thriller, Kickback, was published by Dark Horse in 2006.
