OR – The Art of Colorists Group Exhibit

Press Release:

Sequential Art Gallery + Studio is proud to present a collaborative group show featuring the work of comic book color artists known as colorists. The exhibit consists of original artwork and examples of the colorists’ industry work. The exhibition begins with an artist’s reception from 6pm-10pm on opening night, Thursday, December 7, 2017, and will be available for viewing throughout December.

In the simplest of descriptions, a colorist is responsible for adding color to black-and-white comic book art. Over the years the medium of comics has evolved, and so have the skills of color artists. As the work of colorists has become an increasingly dynamic component, their recognition by the industry and their peers has increased. It’s our hope to further that recognition by working with several colorists for this installation.

Among the color artists participating in the show are Lesley Atlansky (Short Order Crooks, Kid Sherlock), Jeremy Colwell (Batman/TMNT, Wonder Woman Rebirth), Jeromy Cox (DMZ, Promethea), Kelly Fitzpatrick (Archie, Bitch Planet, DC Bombshells), Adam Guzowski (Nailbiter, TMNT), Sloane Leong (From Under Mountains, Change), Steve Oliff (Akira), and Rico Renzi (Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Spider-Gwen). The exhibit is organized by Fitzpatrick, Atlansky, and Marissa Louise.

The colorists’ group exhibit will be on display the entire month of December. The gallery is open for viewing Mondays 2pm-6pm, Saturdays 11am-5pm, and by appointment. The exhibit closes on Saturday, December 30th, at the end of business.

2017 Ringo Awards Final Ballot Announced

Press Release:

The 2017 Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards are to be presented on the evening of Saturday, September 23, 2017 as part of the fan- and pro-favorite convention, the Baltimore Comic-Con. The Ringo Awards has completed the 2017 nomination process, which was inclusive of fans and comic book professionals alike, and both communities showed strong support, both in talking about us on their websites, blogs, and social media feeds, and by submitting their nominations.

With the nomination deadline looming, we continued to see significant volume each day, and determined we needed to extend our original voting deadline to accommodate as many interested participants as we reasonably could without adversely impacting our ability to release and provide sufficient voting time for the final ballot. The augmentation in participation during the nomination extension ended up being significant.

Voting on the 2017 Final Ballot is restricted to comic book industry creative community — anyone involved in and credited with creating comics professionally. We now present the inaugural Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards Final Ballot.

UT – The Stone Heart Signing

Join Faith Erin Hicks (Adventures of Super-hero Girl, Friends with Boys) and Shannon Hale (Princess Academy, Books of Bayern) on Friday, April 7th at 7:00 PM for a discussion about Faith’s new graphic novel, The Stone Heart, book two in her Nameless City series.

Kaidu and Rat have only just recovered from the assassination attempt on the General of All Blades when more chaos breaks loose in the Nameless City: deep conflicts within the Dao nation are making it impossible to find a political solution for the disputed territory of the City itself.

To complicate things further, Kaidu is fairly certain he’s stumbled on a formula for the lost weapon of the mysterious founders of the City. . . . But sharing it with the Dao military would be a complete betrayal of his friendship with Rat. Can Kai find the right solution before the Dao find themselves at war?

Places in the signing line are reserved for those who purchase a copy of The Stone Heart from The King’s English.
