Halloween Launch Party for Locally Published Horror Comic Anthology “Hellbound 2” at Tommy Doyle’s, October 28th.
The Boston Comics Roundtable will be horrifying readers again this Halloween with the second installment of its “Hellbound” anthology of independent horror comics written and drawn by local creators. All comics creators, fans, and friends are invited to celebrate the premiere of the new book at a comics-themed Halloween Party on Friday, October 28, at Tommy Doyle’s in Harvard Square.
“Hellbound 2’s” initial release will be in a limited Art Edition, printed on hand-crafted paper and packaged in a screen-printed presentation box. This limited edition will go on sale at the party.
Edited by Jesse Lonergan, Hellbound 2 features terrifying stories by an assortment of independent comics artists and writers, most working out of New England: Nathan Kitler and Jerel Dye, Clayton McCormack, John Hilliard, Joshua Hoaglund, JL Bell and Andy Wong, Caitlin Plovnick, Ansis Purins, Gabriel Robinson, Patrick Flaherty and EJ Barnes, Logan Faerber, Gregery Miller, and Lindsay Moore and Alex Cormack. The book also features illustrations by the artists Bob Flynn, Erik Heumiller, Carl Tsui, Nate Furman, Cherry Ogata, Laurel Leake, and Roho.
The hand crafted paper used for the Box and Covers of Hellbound 2 was made at the Boston Paper Collective in Charlestown by the contributors with the help of BPC’s Melissa Cross and Zoe Culbertson. The Boxes were screen-printed at the New Hampshire Institute of Art under the guidance of NHIA’s Foundation Chairman, Joel Gill, also a Boston Comics Roundtable member.
The Hellbound Party will include a costume contest, “sketch fights” (competitive speed-cartooning done for an audience), zombie caricatures, and stand-up comedy by
Tim Varguilish and Maria Ciampa.

About the Boston Comics Roundtable
Formed in 2006, the Boston Comics Roundtable brings together local cartoonists and writers to collaborate, workshop, and socialize. Among BCR’s publications are “Inbound,” an anthology of Boston-area independent comics; “Outbound,” a science-fiction comics anthology; and “Hellbound,” an annual collection of horror comics. All comics creators, critics, and curious fans in metro Boston are welcome at the BCR’s weekly meetings. Visit www.bostoncomicsroundtable.com for more information.
If you like spooky New England-themed stories, fantastic comics, crazy costumes and creative fun and games, you won’t want to miss “Hellbound: the Party,” a fundraiser/Halloween ball at Tommy Doyles in Harvard Sq. on Thursday, October 28th to celebrate the upcoming indy comic book, “Hellbound.”
“Hellbound” is a unique project, even in the unpredictable world of independent comics: a limited edition, giant-sized (13″by 19″), silk-screened collection of one-page horror stories, all based on actual New England legends, printed in black and white and RED… and drawn by some of the area’s best comics artists. The gruesome narratives include works by Dan Mazur, Eric Boeker, E.J. Barnes, Nathan Boucher, Jesse Lonergan, Nathan Kitler, Lindsay Moore, Matt Stumpf, Charles Schneeflock Snow, Mark Slater, Line O, Jim Roldan, Joel Christian Gill, C. Che Salazar, Andrew Abbot, Aaron Drew and Nil Gulacsik. Following this initial printing, a normal-sized offset edition will be available at local comics stores and shows.
To help launch this collection of illustrated madness, Hellbound’s editors Roho and Joel Christian Gill of the Boston Comics Roundtable, are inviting the public to an evening of enjoyably horrific revelry. Events will include sketch fighting (two artist compete on a battle of skills for glory and cake), zombie/monster caricatures and a costume contest in which the party guests will compete to win their favorite comics and more! And to cap the festivities off, the last 10 copies of the over-sized silk-screened edition of “Hellbound” will be auctioned off. All proceeds will go toward funding all the Boston Comics Roundtable publishing endeavors.
Like a scary comic book come to life, “Hellbound” will be a Halloween party you’ll never forget.
