Join us as at the San Diego Comic Art Gallery on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 6:30 PM as we discuss the science behind mutations and how some of pop culture’s favorite mutated reptiles came to be. The second in a four-part series where the Comics and Science communities meet! This installment covers the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Godzilla, and the Science of Mutations! Panelists include Kevin B. Eastman (artist, co-creator of TMNT), Tom Waltz (writer, TMNT), and Chris Mowry (writer, Godzilla) from the comics side of things, and Drs. Ronald Coleman and Prithwish Pal heading up the science side. More guests TBD.

The event is for attendees 21 years of age and older. Admission includes two free beers, a free comic, and free autographs. There will be a number of unique items in the gallery to view, including a brand new, limited-time exhibit showcasing Godzilla comic art, original vintage movie posters, and memorabilia from the collection of Chris Mowry. CA – TMNT 100 Gallery Show

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are coming out of their shells in a special art gallery opening hosted by Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman and IDW Publishing! All 100 original covers from Hero Initiative’s The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 100 Project will make their public debut in a gala event at:  San Diego Comic Art Gallery on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM.

IDW Publishing provided special, limited-edition blank covered copies of the landmark Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #50, and Hero Initiative commissioned 100 well known artists including Dale Keown, Whilce Portacio, Bill Sienkiewicz, Walter Simonson and more to create original drawings right on the covers. All the amazing art will be on display, for one night ONLY, Friday June 3rd (the same night as the release of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows movie)!

And there’s MORE: Kevin Eastman did an additional 15 original covers which will be available for purchase the night of the event, and he’ll be live-sketching two additional covers. Other participating artists will be in attendance, too, with more live sketching from the artists.

All art on display and produced the night of June 3rd will be available this fall in The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 100 Project, a book available in both hardcover and softcover from IDW. All the covers will go up for auction on eBay starting on Tuesday June 14, 2016.

“I can not think of a better way to honor and celebrate the ART of the medium we all work in,” said Kevin Eastman “A special event, in a gallery setting created for our ART, while raising money to help the ARTISTS in need who originally inspired us!”

Admission is FREE (entrance donations to the Hero Initiative will be appreciated) and light refreshements will be available.

A splendid time will be had by all in an awesome event to raise funds for Hero Initiative, a charity near and dear to us all!

Free Comic Book Day 2016 is this Saturday May 7th at Cards, Comics & Collectibles – Baltimore County’s Premiere Comic Book Store and the Official News Source of the Baltimore Comic-Con! You don’t want to miss our amazing guests, giveaways, events, and FREE COMICS!

The full-day event kicks off with an awesome line-up of creators appearing at the store! Mark Morales, Matt Slay, and Steve Conley will be all signing autographs at the store throughout the day.

Mark Morales has established himself as one of the industry’s go-to inkers for major titles and events for the big publishers. He has inked a vast number of titles at Marvel Comics including, among many others, A+X, Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers vs. X-Men, New Avengers, Secret Invasion, Sentry, Siege, Spider-Man/Deadpool, Thor, Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine, X-Force, and X-Men. He has also done work for DC Comics on titles like Action Comics, Batman/Superman, JLA, New Suicide Squad, Prez, and Superman: The Man of Steel. He was also awarded the Harvey Award for Best Inker in 2009 and 2011.

Matt Slay has contributed to the TMNT/Ghostbusters crossover and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro Series: Leonardo. You can find his work gracing countless trading cards for Image, Cryptozoic, and Marvel, and more recently on covers from American Mythology Productions’ Equilibrium.

Award-winning designer, illustrator, and cartoonist Steve Conley has worked on such notable comics as Star Trek: Year Four (IDW), Michael Chabon’s Amazing Adventures of the Escapist (Dark Horse Comics), JLA-Z (DC Comics), and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (BOOM! Studios). Conley, who is also the creator of Astounding Space Thrills and the all-ages series Bloop (www.bloopstree.com), will be signing and sketching all day.
