CA – Dark Country Signing

Tom Jane signs at Secret Headquarters on Friday October 12, 2012 at 7:00 pm.

Press Release:

Please join us on Friday, October 12 to celebrate the release of Dark Country, the graphic novel based on the Thomas Jane film.

In 2007, actor/filmmaker Thomas Jane went off to New Mexico to film his noir/suspense film, Dark Country, a twisted, psycho-noir about a couple forced to deal with a dead body en route from Vegas. The result was a mind bending, idiosyncratic, EC Comic-style ride into the noirish landscape of damnation. In an effort to create a new experience, Jane had the artist adapt the original short story by Tab Murphy that inspired the film. Thomas Ott’s adaptation is presented in his signature ‘silent’ format, with Tab Murphy’s original short story immediately following the sequential art. Also included is a 40 page bonus section packed with pre-visualization art, production photography, and marketing art and design.

So join us next Friday, have a drink, grab a book, and meet Mr. Jane!

Las Vegas Comic Expo Relocates to the Riviera

Las Vegas Comic Expo, previously announced to be held at the Alexis Park All Suite Resort, will be relocating to a new venue, the Riviera Hotel and Casino, directly located on the Las Vegas Strip!!!

Due to the flash floods from the recent rain storms, the original hotel and halls located at the Alexis Park Resort were damaged beyond immediate repair to house Las Vegas Comic Expo. Drywall, carpet and a lack of power proved too much to repair in such a short window, thus making the shift to the Riviera necessary.

We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused any of our guests, vendors and attendees. But oddly enough this unfortunate circumstance actually has led to an expansion for the show with a larger convention hall and plenty of space for attendees to browse and shop. The new location at the Riviera will be able to showcase and accommodate the entire guest list of over 50 of the top names in comics and entertainment all united with the exhibitors and artist alley in one grand exhibit hall. The gaming, panels and programs will be conveniently located adjacent to the main hall as well.

The dates of the convention hours remain the same for Las Vegas Comic Expo: Saturday, September 29 (10AM to 7PM) and Sunday, September 30 (10AM to 5PM).

All tickets previously issued will be honored and redirected to Las Vegas Comic Expo at the Riviera. Tickets are still available for sale in advance as well as at the door on the days of the event.

Located on the Las Vegas Strip, The Riviera Hotel and Casino is just a quick cab or shuttle ride from McCarran International Airport (LAS) and only minutes away from downtown Las Vegas and the Fremont Street Experience.

The hotel offers guests amenities of many dining options including a buffet, food court and steakhouse as well as the Oasis Pool, a barber shop, beauty salon, tattoo parlor (What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas), gaming casino and other forms of entertainment and conveniences. The hotel has ample free public parking, and is also a short walk to the public monorail system.

The Riviera is located at 2901 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, NV 89109.

HOTEL INFORMATION
RIVIERA HOTEL AND CASINO INFORMATION:

We are making arrangements with the Riviera Casino and Hotel to offer our guests of Las Vegas Comic Expo similar room rates as we had offered to our guests at the Alexis Park All Suite Resort.

We will have updated information to reserve hotel rooms within the next day.

Once we have that information, we will send it out to everyone.
FOR THOSE BOOKED THROUGH THE ALEXIS PARK ALL SUITE RESORT:

If you used the “Las Vegas Comic Expo” promotional rate, you have two options.

OPTION 1:

You can maintain your reservation at the Alexis Park Resort.

The Alexis Park All Suite Resort will run a 14 seat shuttle service, complimentary to and from the Riviera Casino and Hotel, taking our guests door to door. The shuttle service will run on Saturday and Sunday from the Alexis Park every 2 hours at 8:00am, 10:00am, 12:00pm noon, 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:00pm, and 8:00pm.

They will also continue to have complimentary shuttle service for their guests between the airport and the Alexis Park All Suite Resort.
OPTION 2:

You can cancel your room at the Alexis Park All Suite Resort and opt to make a reservation at The Riviera Hotel and Casino. The deadline to cancel at The Alexis Park Resorts without penalty is 48 hours prior to the date of your reservation.
For those who made reservations at Alexis Park outside of the Las Vegas Comic Expo promotions, you will need to discuss with Alexis Park about your options.

THE CONFIRMED 100 OFFER:

If you took advantage of the “Confirmed 100 Offer”, your free admission to Las Vegas Comic Expo, as part of our free pass promotion will still of course be honored as long as the following applies:

If you keep your Alexis Park reservation, you will still receive the free admission pass(es).

If you transfer your reservation to the Riviera Hotel and Casino, you will still receive the free admission pass(es).

We will cross check all reservations made with Alexis Park and the Riviera.

With the current situation, the easiest way to claim your free admission is to bring a government issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc…) to the Will Call area during the pre-registration or show times.

Thomas Jane Gets RAW at Dallas Comic Con 2011

RAW Thomas Jane

Press Release:

Thomas Jane gets RAW at Dallas Comic Con, this May 21-22

For the past two years actor Thomas Jane has turned in an amazing performance on the hit HBO series HUNG, in which he stars as an average guy doing whatever he can to get a leg up… or, uh, something like that. Tom’s acting has been so appreciated, he’s received two back-to-back Golden Globe nominations, and a third season is on the way. Regardless of whether you’ve seen the show, chances are you’ll recognize Jane from one of his many memorable roles through the years, including his breakout scenes in BOOGIE NIGHTS, the Renny Harlin shark thriller DEEP BLUE SEA, his terrific interpretation of Mickey Mantle in 61*, Cameron Diaz’s love interest in the sexy comedy THE SWEETEST THING, the daring and difficult true story of STANDER, his comic book adaptation of “Frank Castle” in THE PUNISHER, the controversial leading man in Frank Darabont’s adaptation of Stephen King’s THE MIST, and so much more. You many have also chuckled during his memorable cameo in SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD… I know I did.

In 2005, Tom made his first appearance at the Dallas Comic Con, where he debuted the very first concept art for his comic book project BAD PLANET in the show program book. Since then he’s released multiple comic projects through his RAW Studios imprint, a company he’s formed with business partner and accomplished creator Tim Bradstreet. Series like BAD PLANET and ALIEN PIG FARM 3000 (written by DRIVE ANGRY 3D screenwriter Todd Farmer) have wowed fans and critics with fun throwback-style stories and artwork by some of the best artists in the business. Jane is currently working with acclaimed writer Bruce Jones to revive the ALIEN WORLDS and TWISTED TALES comic books, and has already written, directed and starred in his own movie, DARK COUNTRY. But you don’t have to just read about the actor’s exploits, you could actually meet him and his creative partners in person at the upcoming Dallas Comic Con this May 21-22. Thomas Jane, Tim Bradstreet, Todd Farmer and Bruce Jones will all be in attendance, along with RAW collaborators Steve Niles and Bernie Wrightson. The RAW booth rarely makes a full appearance at any show outside of San Diego Comic-Con and the Long Beach Comic Con, but they’ll be out in full force at the popular Texas-based event, signing autographs and meeting fans. Tom is currently scheduled to do a scheduled signing on both Saturday and Sunday during the show, and will be making frequent appearances at the booth.

This is a rare opportunity to meet one of the coolest creative teams in the industry, and if you haven’t seen the guest list for the show, you’ll realize this is just the icing on an already delicious cake. You can find out more information on the Dallas Comic Con (held May 21-22) at http://dallascomiccon.com – or on their Facebook page at http://facebook.com/dallas.comiccon.

Century Guild Announces SDCC 2010 Schedule

San Diego Comic Con 2010 SCHEDULE

I feel like I should begin as if I were in a confessional: “Forgive me, it’s been sixty-eight days since my last blog post…”

Lots of great things happening.  Which I DO want to talk about.  I mean, like YOU-WOULD-NOT-BELIEVE-IT level coolness.  And when I say that, I mean, like, you can’t even imagine.  But I must get this post out before the event has come and gone!

We’ve put together the best exhibition yet for this year’s San Diego Comic Con.  Haute Campe, our division of drive-in movie posters, has made some fantastic poster recreations featuring top models, and they’ll be appearing in our booth to sign them!  Plus, we’re happy to add some new artists to the Century Guild stable… PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES.

Century Guild – Special Guests

Melissa Auf der MaurMelissa Auf der Maur

Melissa Auf der Maur

Signing   Thursday 22 July 2010   2-3 pm

Musician Melissa Auf der Maur has served as bassist for the bands Hole and Smashing Pumpkins, and contributed to albums by artists including Rufus Wainwright and Ryan Adams.  While Blender magazine lists her as “one of the hottest women in rock”, I assure you that Melissa is much more than just a pretty (ok, gorgeous) face:

Last Fall, Melissa Auf der Maur’s film Out Of Our Minds (with collaborator Tony Stone) was featured as an installation piece in the J. W. Waterhouse exhibition at the Montreal Museum Of Fine Arts.  First shown at Sundance in 2009, her film is noteworthy as the sole contemporary interpretation of the Pre-Raphaelite vision to be included in this landmark exhibition.

Out Of Our Minds is part of a larger vision, including a record and other soon-to-be-revealed aspects.  Melissa is a true conjurer and fine artist, and you MUST come and meet her!  Please note: Due to concert obligations, Melissa will be at Comic Con Thursday only!

Lee MoyerLee Moyer

Lee Moyer

Signing   Thursday 22 July 2010   2-3 pm

Continuing the Melissa Auf der Maur festivities, Lee Moyer will be signing alongside Melissa copies of his not-yet-revealed Art Nouveau-inspired MAdM poster!!!  Lee has been in the public eye this past year as the artist bringing Michael Kaluta’s vision for an expanded Starstruck to completion, inking the expanded images and meticulously recoloring the entire book.  We love Lee and are happy to have him behind the table this year!  Please note: Due to prior commitments, Lee will only be at Comic Con on Thursday as well.

IN HIS FIRST PUBLIC APPEARANCE IN OVER DECADE. One of Neil Gaiman’s “go-to” illustrators, Zulli created the popular “man who could not die” Hob Gadling for The Sandman comic, and illustrated the epic final story arc, The Wake.  Gaiman was so moved by Zulli’s sensitive linework, that this story arc were the first books to be published directly from an artist’s pencils. Following his work on The Sandman, Zulli retreated from the public eye and spent years sculpting his deeply personal graphic novel The Fracture of the Universal Boy, coming in Fall 2010 from Olympian Publishing. We are proud to announce that Michael Zulli is a Featured Guest of the 2010 San Diego Comic Con.

Homer Simpson might have called him “boss” on The Simpsons, Mulder and Scully might have called him “Dr. Blockhead” on The X-Files, but we call Jim Rose “legend”.  With his Jim Rose Circus, Rose revitalized the entire sideshow culture, and became a worldwide sensation from the moment they were invited by Jane’s Addition founder Perry Farrell to shock the crowds on the first Lollapallooza tour back in 1991 and paved the way for an entire generation of tattooed and pierced performers. “Today you see acts on prime time television that I was being thrown in jail for in ’91 and ’92,” marvels Rose.

Jim and his wife, Bébé the Circus Queen, have collated the notes taken over a lifetime’s worth of circus travels around the world on the luck rituals they encountered in different cultures into an encyclopedia of all things lucky titled- appropriately enough- Your Lucky Book.  Illustrated in a nineteenth-century style by Jeremy Bastian, both authors will be on hand to sign limited edition copies of the book with a special cover, hand-stamped in metallic inks.

Steve will be signing DVDs of his interactive film Living Through Steve Diet Goedde: Photographic Anthology 1990-2004, with over 700 images digitally rescanned from the original negatives by Steve Diet Goedde himself, including hundreds of never-before-seen images.

The success of Jeremy Bastian’s Cursed Pirate Girl has reached levels of appeal that very few contemporary comics can claim.  In the year since its first issue was published, Jeremy Bastian’s creation has amassed a cult-like following, its followers ranging from comic book fans, children, industry legends and celebrities.  The first issue has already reached a 4th printing!  Jeremy will also be signing the above mentioned limited edition copies of Your Lucky Book by Jim and Bébé Rose.  This weekend will also mark the announcement of Cursed Pirate Girl moving to a major publisher. “Jeremy Bastian is a genius” -Mike Mignola (Hellboy)

Hung.  The Punisher.  The Mist.  As if that wasn’t enough, add that the man was the director of the brilliantly creepy The Dark Country and the mastermind behind some of the hottest comic books to hit the shelves in the last couple of years, and you have more reasons than you need to come and see the take Sioux Sinner has conjured up of a certain 1970s Italian movie poster— recreated with Tom in the lead role!  Thomas Jane will be signing his Haute Campe recreation and will be more than happy to sign any copies of his comics Bad Planet or Alien Pig Farm 3000 you might happen to have bought before those things were sold out everywhere!

Symbolist painter Gail Potocki is an anachronism: an artist who studied in the manner of the Old Masters… but grew up listening to Punk Rock.  Gail is currently working on a series based on the Freaks of the 1920s sideshows, and her environmental paintings have become hauntingly relevant again this season.  Stay tuned for details on a special charity supporting animal rescue efforts in the Gulf.  “More than just paintings, Gail Potocki conducts seances on canvas.” -Grant Morrison

Lisa Black (artworks only)

Last year, Lisa Black’s taxidermy artworks were a runaway hit of the show, and were featured on Wired and Boing Boing, and were the subject of more blog posts than anything we’ve ever seen.  This year will certainly have the crowds equally enthralled!
