OR – The Creep Signing

Jonathan Case signs at TFAW on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 7:00pm until 10:00pm.

RSVP on Facebook!

Press Release:

Things From Another World is proud to announce a signing and gallery reception with Eisner Award-winning artist Jonathan Case, September 12 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Portland TFAW! Case will sign his newest release from Dark Horse Comics, The Creep #1, and display his original pages from The Creep, Green River Killer, Dear Creature, and more! Complimentary food and beer (21+ with valid ID) provided.

Periscope Studios artist Jonathan Case won the Best Reality-Based Work Eisner for Green River Killer this year, as well as the Stumptown Awards for Best Artist and Best New Talent for GRK and Dear Creature. Now he teams up with B.P.R.D. writer John Arcudi for The Creep, a noir miniseries starring Oxel Karnhus, a private investigator who is reunited with his college sweetheart by a horrible tragedy. Hellboy creator Mike Mignola calls it, “A beautiful book and, for my money, no one in comics writes better stories about human beings than John Arcudi.”

Case hit the comics scene in a big way with Green River Killer, a haunting tale of notorious serial killer Gary Leon Ridgway, written by Entertainment Weekly writer Jeff Jensen. Case’s cult-hit Dear Creature, a monster-pulp-romance, showcases a different side of Case’s art and storytelling talent, melding sweetness and sci-fi.

Come pick up your copy of The Creep #1 on release date and get it signed by the artist, and see Jonathan Case’s original pages in person! Copies of Green River Killer and more will also be available for purchase. See you September 12 at the Portland TFAW.

Press Release:

Things From Another World is proud to announce that acclaimed artist Colleen Coover (Gingerbread Girl) will show all 13 pages of Bandette, her new ongoing digital series for MonkeyBrain Comics with Paul Tobin (Falling Skies, Amazing Spider-Girl), at the Portland TFAW this August! The first 100 attendees will receive a free, limited-edition Bandette print!

The debut of digital publisher MonkeyBrain Comics has generated a lot of excitement this summer, and fans have flipped for Bandette, a charming mix of Tintin and Nancy Drew, with a few costumes thrown in! Bandette is leader of a group of urchins dedicated to serving justice, except when thieving is a bit more fun. Follow her and her crew, as they join forces and cross swords with the master thief known only as Monsieur, and one B.D. Belgique, perhaps the most harassed police inspector of all time.

Artist Colleen Coover is a member of Portland, Oregon’s Periscope Studio and well-known for her expressive, vivacious style. She burst onto the scene with the lesbian-themed erotic comic book Small Favors for Eros Comix, and has gone on to contribute to Marvel Comics’ Amazing Spider-Girl, Girl Comics, X-Men First Class, and more. She previously collaborated with her husband, Paul Tobin, on Gingerbread Girl, a tale of magical realism, for Top Shelf Publishing.

The Portland TFAW is the only place you can see the original art for Bandette! Make sure to get there early to receive a free, limited-edition Bandette print exclusive to this event and get it signed by the creators. See you August 10!

“Chris isn’t just an excellent comics writer, but he’s one of our favorite people,” said TFAW Senior Director of Retail Operations Andrew McIntire. “When we heard he and his family were moving to Portland, we wanted to be the first comic shop to welcome them to their new home, and we’re excited to host this signing for Chris and Georgia.”

The Adventure Time comics are based on Cartoon Network’s insanely popular animated show! The series follows the adventures of Finn, a 14-year old boy in the Land of Oo whose best friend is Jake, a dog with magical powers such as growing and shrinking or stretching into many shapes. Finn is a silly kid who wants to become a great hero one day. He might not look too tough, but if there’s evil around, he’ll slay it!

“When we created our new store, one of our top priorities was making it kid-friendly,” said McIntire. “We invite families to come out, meet Chris and Georgia, and check out our kids’ play area and expanded all-ages section.”

Chris Roberson is a critically acclaimed writer who’s written for a wide range of comics, including Cinderella: Fables Are Forever, Star Trek/Legion of Superheroes, and his creator-owned title, Memorial. He collaborated with his daughter, Georgia, on a hilarious tale in Adventure Time #5–make sure to stop by the Portland TFAW June 23 to get your copy!
