Lee Bermejo & Jock Appear at Splash Page Comic Art Booth for SDCC 2017

Like every year, Splash Page Comic Art will be setting up at San Diego Comic Con in Booth #4400. This is near the Hall G Entrance.

SAN DIEGO COMIC CON ARTIST COMMISSIONS

Lee Bermejo, artist of Suiciders, Batman: Noel, The Joker Graphic Novel, Lex Luthor: Man of Steel, and much more, is offering a rare opportunity to receive a hand drawn, one of a kind, convention style commission to be picked up at the 2017 San Diego Comic Con, by July 23rd.

We are taking three (3) – One Character Convention Style Commissions on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis.

They are drawn in pencils, inks and inkwash on a piece of 11 x 17″ comic art board with most of the fills being inks and wash with a simple but cool background design (Wonder Woman Example shown below).

These are NOT Lee’s cover quality super tight detailed pencil cover like commissions as those are considerably more expensive and take a lot more time. These are still amazing examples of Lee’s work and great values.

They MUST be picked up at San Diego Comic Con 2017 (July 19th – 23rd) by the person paying for the commission or a representative for them (that they have provided the name & phone number).

The Price is $1500 and must be paid using Personal Paypal sent to (Friends/family).

Please Email Mark (Mark@[at]splashpageart.com) if you are ready to purchase a Lee Bermejo Convention Commission.

JOCK SIGNING & SKETCH OPPORTUNITY

Jock will be offering a FREE sketch (limit 1 per person) when you buy a minimum of $500 worth his original art (available at the link). This includes covers, splashes, individual and multiple page purchases as long as it meets or exceeds the $500 amount.

The art may be purchased prior to the show or at the San Diego Comic Con. The sketch MUST be asked for and waited for at his SDCC signing at the Splash Page Art Booth 4400. You may have a representative pickup your art & sketch, but they must wait the entire time of the signing and pickup the art. We will not accept sketch ideas ahead of time.

A date and time will be posted in the near future. Jock will only be able to take on 5-10 sketches total so we’ll take five guaranteed sketches ahead of time on a first come, first serve basis. If you are not one of the first five to purchase pages, we’ll take the next five first come, first serve purchases at SDCC.

Please go through the checkout process to purchase Jock’s art and mention that you are wanting to qualify for your free SDCC sketch.

Chris Evans Surprises Comic Fans at Local Shop

000 cevans comicazi

Some lucky fans got a big surprise when actor Chris Evans unexpectedly showed up at Comicazi, a comic shop in Somerville, MA, for a series of pranks which were captured on video (see below). The event was organized to advertise a contest Evans is currently running with Omaze in which participants contribute to charity for a chance to meet and participate in an escape room with him. Proceeds from the contest benefit Christopher’s Haven, a local nonprofit that provides support to kids fighting cancer.

Comicazi co-owner Mike Burke said they were contacted out of the blue by Omaze, whose team had previously scouted the store and found it ideal for their purposes. “Once everything was finalized, they had a crew set the cameras up the day before,” said Burke. “The next day Chris Evans came in to participate and get the whole thing going. He was a very nice guy.”

A Boston native, Evans has appeared in several comic book based movies most notably as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has previously benefited Christopher’s Haven at their fundraiser and two years ago famously visited their patients alongside actor Chris Pratt after winning a bet with the star of Guardians of the Galaxy that the New England Patriots would defeat the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

Meet artists Jock and Dom Reardon Saturday 13 December 2014 from 3:00-5:00 PM at Gnash Comics, hear them talk about their work from 3:30pm, followed by a Q&A session. There will also be an exhibition of their original comic art!

Mark your calendars, comic collectors and art aficionados; two of the most celebrated British illustrators in the business will be making a personal appearance at GNASH Comics and Graphic Novels on Saturday December 13th.

Dom Reardon is a household name for British industry devotees thanks to a lengthy and renowned run with 2000AD, the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic. Few things inspire more fear than the rule of Tharg, but Reardon has been responsible for countless sleepless nights for comic book consumers; in addition to a number of renowned Terror Tales, Reardon pencilled and inked the spine-chilling Caballistics, Inc. for over half a decade. Most recently Reardon has worked alongside fellow Brit Rob Williams in The Ten-Seconders and The Grievous Journey of Ichabod Azrael, in addition to providing illustrations for the feature-length graphic adaptation of Anthony Horowitz’s Raven’s Gate.

Jock, meanwhile, has worked within the mythical metropolises of Mega City One, Gotham and Hollywood since making his breakthrough at the turn of the millennium. In addition to eminent work on classic 2000 AD strips, Jock’s distinctive drawings have graced countless covers and interiors for industry titans DC, Vertigo and Marvel – Hellblazer, The Losers, Batman, Swamp Thing, Wolverine and Daredevil are just a handful of the marquee characters pencilled by the illustrious illustrator. Currently scaring up a storm alongside celebrated Bat-scribe Scott Snyder with the spellbinding Wytches for Image Comics, an audience with Jock is not to be missed.

In addition to hosting an open Q&A for the fortunate attendees of the appearance alongside Reardon, Jock will also be signing copies of Dredd: The Illustrated Script and Visuals. A gorgeous tome that peeks behind the scenes of 2012’s fantastic cinematic chronicle of everyone’s favourite funnybook fascist, for which the Scottish sketcher provided the concept art, the book also provides a unique comic strip adaptation of Alex Garland’s screenplay.

NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE

They’re down – but not out. The Company thought it had taken care of the Losers. After they saw a little too much at the wrong place and time, their chopper went down in flames with no survivors and plenty of deniability – and the Losers went down in the records as just another team of black ops foot soldiers tragically lost to one of the CIA’s shadow wars. But the Losers were just playing dead – and now that they’ve seen what the Company is really up to, they’re through with games. Now it’s time to take the fight back to its source. Time for some payback…
