Join DefectiveGeeks.com as they celebrate their 5th year anniversary on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 7-10pm! The event will be hosted by our Los Angeles based LADY GEEKS: the Space Pirate Queen, Gizzy B, Sailor Mizz, and Fortune Cookie.
DefectiveGeeks.com is a geek girls blog, videos and podcast collective. We will be recording a podcast during the party and there will be audience participation with prizes. Trust me. We’re pretty funny.
There will also be a photobooth so come dress your nerd best– cosplayers are welcome.
This event is FREE and opened to the public! ALL are welcome, both boys and girls! Keep in mind that we might get a little over PG-13 during the podcast show but we will try to keep it kid friendly if you want to bring them along. We will have booze.
Lil Rae Cakes will be selling her famous cake balls so make sure to bring an appetite for desserts and cash.

Comic-Con Has Announced the Will Eisner Spirit Award Finalists for SDCC 2011

Will Eisner Spirit Award Finalists Announced
Awards ceremony Friday night at Comic-Con(R)
San Diego – Comic-Con International: San Diego (Comic-Con), the largest comic book convention of its kind in the world, announced the finalists for the Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award today. Each year the Spirit Award is presented as part of the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards.
This years finalists include: A Comic Shop, Alternate Reality, Bridge City, Challengers, Comics and Vegetables, The Comic Bug, The Dragon, and Green Brain Comics. These nominees come from all over the United States and are nominated by peers, retailers or fans.
Comic-Con’s director of marketing and public relations, David Glanzer, said the organization was pleased with the nominations and the judges will have a difficult decision to make.
“The Will Eisner Spirit Award is a very prestigious accolade presented to the best of the best in comics retailing,” said Glanzer.
The panel of judges includes Diamond UK’s Mike Holman, cartoonist Jeff Smith (Bone, RASL), writer/editor Anina Bennett (Heartbreakers, Boilerplate), BOOM Studios’ Chip Moser, and last year’s Spirit Award winners, Vault of Midnight co-owners Curtis Sullivan and Steve Fodale. The 2011 winner(s) will join the panel for next year.
The nominees are selected using a variety of criteria including support for a wide variety of innovative material, knowledge of the comics field, community activity, quality of store image and adherence to standard ethical business practices.
The awards ceremony will be held Friday, July 22 at 8:30 p.m. in the Indigo Ballroom at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. Attendance is free to Comic-Con badge holders and will be seated on a first come first serve basis.

LOS ANGELES, Calif., September 16, 2010 – Top Cow Productions, Inc. proudly announced today that first title off of the 2010 Pilot Season slate will arrive in stores next week on September 22nd, 2010. Pilot Season 2010 debuts a new format consisting of five new concepts and five different creative teams released in a span of five weeks. In support of Pilot Season 2010, stateside creators will be embarking on a signing tour coinciding with their pilot’s release.
