Darick Robertson signs and sketches at Illusive Comics on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 4:00pm.
Illusive Comics & Games is hosting a signing with Darick Robertson on December 19, 2012 from 4:00-8:00pm. Robertson is the artist of Happy!, a new comic mini-series written by Grant Morrison; the first issue of which sold out in September before it hit the stands. He is also the original artist of The Boys, and the artist and co-creator of the long running series Transmetropolitan with Warren Ellis.
Copies of his books will be available for purchase, and attendees will receive a free sketch with purchase. Autographs will be supervised so that signed comics can be submitted to the CGC. The price for a supervised autograph is $38 per book, which includes shipping. Robertson will also be accepting a limited number of commissions.
Happy! is the story of hitman Nick Sax, who finds himself working with a young girl’s imaginary, magical blue horse to save the girl from a pedophiliac Santa Claus. Not your typical Christmas comic, the book has mature themes and images.
Robertson began his career in comics at age 17, and has illustrated hundreds of comics in his more than twenty years in the industry. He has worked on many well-known titles from major comic publishers DC and Marvel, including New Warriors, Justice League, Wolverine, Spider-man, and Fury.

The Baltimore Comic-Con is excited to add prolific writer Garth Ennis and publisher Dynamite Entertainment to the growing list of talent and exhibitors attending this year’s show. The show will take place September 8-9, 2012 at the Baltimore Convention Center.
Ennis, who is probably best known for his work on the Vertigo series, Preacher, as well as the creator-owned series, The Boys from Dynamite Entertainment, began his career in 1989. After several critically acclaimed works in England, he broke into the American comic scene in 1991.
Building a following on such titles as Hellblazer (Vertigo), The Demon (DC Comics), Hitman (DC Comics), Preacher (Vertigo), and PunisherMAX (Marvel Comics), Ennis is renowned as one of the best writers to come out of the “British Invasion” of the early-’90s and received and Eisner Award for Best Writer in 1998 and an Eagle Award in 1999 for Best Color Comic Book (for Preacher).
Currently, Ennis is wrapping up his final story arc for The Boys, as well as handling writing duties for the relaunch of The Shadow for Dynamite Entertainment. Ennis will be working with artist Aaron Campbell (Green Hornet: Year One, Dark Shadows) to bring the classic pulp franchise back to the printed page for a whole new generation of fans.
“The Shadow is probably the last established character I like that I haven’t gotten around to writing yet, certainly on this side of the Atlantic,” said Ennis in a recent press release. “It makes a kind of bloody, bullet-riddled sense: I always had a feeling our paths would cross sooner or later.”
Dynamite Entertainment, whose publishing works includes both licensed properties and creator-owned work, will also be exhibiting at this year’s show. Founded in 2004, Dynamite won the Diamond Gem Award for Best Publisher Under 4% of Market Share in 2011.

Comments Off on UK – The Boys Signing
Garth Ennis signs at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Sunday 21st August 1 – 2pm for HIGHLAND LADDIE, THE BOYS VOL. 8.
Mind reeling from recent events in The Boys, Wee Hughie heads home to Auchterladle – the semi-idyllic Scottish seaside town where he grew up. All Hughie wants is some time to himself, to return to the bosom of family and friends, and get his head together after two years of unimaginable chaos. But our hero’s luck has always been more cloud than silver lining, and the familiar surroundings he craves are not all they might be. You can go home again – but with old pals warped beyond recognition and strangers in town up to no good, whether or not you should is another matter entirely…
Collecting the origin story of everyone’s favourite pint-sized Scotsman, this edition features art by Herogasm artist John McCrea and a special cover gallery from artist Darick Robertson.
GARTH ENNIS is the award-winning writer of Hellblazer, Hitman, Punisher, Preacher, Pride and Joy, and War Stories. He is much in demand for his hard-edged, wickedly humorous style.
