Wil Wheaton

A worldwide audience may know him from recent roles as Evil Wil Wheaton on The Big Bang Theory, Doctor Isaac Parrish on EUReKA, or Fawkes on The Guild, but Wil Wheaton’s successful acting career began in 1986 with acclaimed roles in Stand By Me and Toy Soldiers.

He continued to build his resume through his teen years as series regular ‘Wesley Crusher’ on Star Trek: The Next Generation and opposite Robin Williams in Disney’s Flubber. But Wil is much more than just an actor; he’s an author, blogger, podcaster, voice actor, widely-followed original Twitter user, and a champion of geek culture. Wil currently splits his time between acting and writing. He has recurred for several seasons as Doctor Isaac Parrish on SyFy’s hit series EUReKA, as computer hacker Cha0s on TNT’s Leverage, and as a “delightfully evil version” of himself on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory.

After portraying Axis of Anarchy leader Fawkes in two seasons of Felicia Day’s smash hit webseries “The Guild”, she and Wil co-created the internet sensation Tabletop, which runs Day’s Premium YouTube channel, Geek and Sundry. Wil hosts and executive produces the program, currently in its first season.

An avid and passionate tabletop and video gamer, Wil gave the keynote address to the 2007 Penny Arcade Expo, and delivered the inagural keynote address to PAX East in 2010. He has been featured on the long-running Wizards of the Coast Dungeons and Dragons podcast as the Eladrin Avenger Aeofel, and provides voices for numerous videogames, including Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Red Dead Redemption, Brütal Legend, Fallout: New Vegas, and DC Universe Online. His has voiced numerous animated characters on series such as Ben 10: Alien Force, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Teen Titans, and Legion of Superheroes.

As an author, he’s published several acclaimed books, including: Just A Geek, Dancing Barefoot, The Happiest Days of Our Lives, and Memories of the Future Volume 1, a humorous and nostalgic episode guide of the first half of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. All of his books grew out of Wil’s immensely popular, award-winning weblogs, which he created at WIL WHEATON dot NET and WIL WHEATON dot NET: in Exile. While most celebrities are happy to let publicists and social media professionals design and maintain their websites, Wil took a decidedly different turn when he started blogging in 2001. He designed, coded, and maintained WWdN entirely on his own, until he “blew up” his sites’ database in 2005 and moved his blog to the TypePad service. In 2012, he returned to his blogging roots at Wil Wheaton dot Net, which is now powered by WordPress.

In the 2002 weblog awards (the bloggies) Wil won every category in which he was nominated, including “Weblog of the Year.” In 2003, Forbes.com readers voted WWdN the “Best Celebrity Weblog.” Wil’s blog was chosen by C|Net for inclusion in their 100 most influential blogs, and is an “A” lister, according to Blogebrity.com. In 2007, Wil was nominated for a Lifetime Achievement Bloggie, alongside Internet powerhouses Slashdot and Fark. In the 2008 weblog awards, Wil was voted the “Best Celebrity Blogger,” and in 2009 Forbes named him the 14th most influential web celebrity. This is all amusing to Wil, who doesn’t think of himself as a celebrity, but is instead, “just this guy, you know?”

Paul and Storm

Paul and Storm have been performing as a comedy music duo since 2004. Before that, they were one half of a cappella band Da Vinci’s Notebook. In addition to touring as Paul and Storm, they’re the evil geniuses (along with Wil Wheaton and Adam Savage) of the nerd-oriented variety show “w00tstock”; co-conspirators in “JoCo Cruise Crazy”; and they now have their own webseries, “LearningTown”, which debuted on January 15, 2013 on Geek and Sundry, Felicia Day’s Premium YouTube Channel.

BURBANK, Calif. (July 16, 2013) — Comic-Con fan favorite The Big Bang Theory (Thursdays 8/7c CBS) returns to San Diego in 2013, and this year, TV’s #1 comedy makes its appearance at the Con not only in a Friday panel session — but also in fine art form. Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Marketing and Warner Bros. Consumer Products have launched The Big Bang Theory Artist Series, an exclusive collaboration with a select group of leading and emerging artists to celebrate TV’s #1 comedy and its oft-imitated geek-chic aesthetic with a series of original artworks that will debut at Comic-Con.

Seven original pieces from The Big Bang Theory Artist Series will be exhibited in a gallery space within the Warner Bros. booth, and limited-edition litho prints of two of the selections will be available for sale at the Huckleberry booth. Exhibitions of additional pieces and artwork from the Artist Series, as well as future prints and additional merchandise based upon the series, will follow in upcoming months.

  • The Studio invited artists from the U.S. and around the globe to collaborate on The Big Bang Theory Artist Series and to express their visual interpretation of the smash series, its characters and its themes. Artists from Korea, Mexico, the UK, Italy, Germany, the U.S. and more have contributed original works in a variety of mediums and styles — ranging from street art to fine art and from digital to illustration — all inspired by The Big Bang Theory. 
  • Fans can see the first installment of the Artist Series, with seven original pieces on display at the Warner Bros. booth, #4545 on the convention floor. 
  • 250 limited-edition offset lithographic prints of the creations by Martin Hsu (“Big Bang Cats”) and Jerrod Maruyama (“Little Big Bang Theory”) can be purchased for $45 per print at the Huckleberry booth, #3449 on the convention floor. Additionally, artists Hsu and Maruyama will be on hand to sign their prints on Friday, July 19, at the Huckleberry booth (time TBD).

  • Throughout the next year, WBTVG and WBCP will reveal additional participating artists, unveil new pieces and artwork, and announce upcoming gallery exhibitions featuring all artists in the series. Original merchandise based upon the Artist Series and future lithographic prints will be available at select events and retailers. 

Details on the seven original pieces from The Big Bang Theory Artist Series on display at the Warner Bros. booth are as follows:

  • “Big Bang Cats” by Martin Hsu. San Francisco artist Martin Hsu found inspiration in the peculiar feline characteristics of cat breeds when looking for a perfect match for the eccentric Big Bang characters. 
  • “Little Big Bang Theory” by Jerrod Maruyama. Specializing in character concept and design, freelance illustrator Jerrod Maruyama looks for the “cute” in everything and found a natural fit with these adorable cartoon characters in an almost toylike, kawaii homage. 
  • “Zero2Hero” by Dez Einswell. As part of his signature style, Dez Einswell draws out the iconic nature of each character, blending both super hero and fanboy imagery. 
  • “Doctor Cooper” by Nan Lawson. Self-taught Silverlake illustrator Nan Lawson found inspiration in Sheldon Cooper’s charming and humorous perspective of how the world works. 
  • “Friendship Formula” by David Zajdman X Munky King. Using Munky King’s Omi (designer toy) aesthetic, Zajdman presents his own variable on Sheldon Cooper’s “Friendship Algorithm.” 
  • “In the Beginning There Was Nothing Which Exploded” by Richard J. Oliver. Welsh artist Richard Oliver creates a visual representation of theBig Bang characters in the old comic book style fused with that of more contemporary graphic novels. 
  • “The Big Bang” by Sakiroo Choi. Internationally prominent Korean illustrator and artist Sakiroo Choi was inspired by Stephen Hawking’s groundbreaking research, as well as scientific themes found in The Big Bang Theory. This piece expresses the idea that the singular Dr. Sheldon Cooper — similar to a black hole — is unaffected by the gravitational pull of everything that surrounds him.

Here’s the backstory:

  • In The Big Bang Theory’s season five finale, Caltech engineer Howard Wolowitz (series star Simon Helberg) is launched into space aboard a Russian Soyuz space capsule.
  • During the show’s Comic-Con panel session, Helberg was asked whether he would ever entertain a visit to space. When XCOR’s Searfoss, in a surprise appearance, offered the very real opportunity to actually take a trip outside the earth’s atmosphere on their suborbital spacecraft, series co-creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre suggested it be given to one of the show’s fans in attendance.

For the first time ever, The Big Bang Theory Comic-Con panel was held in Hall H. Mayim Bialik was the child star of the popular 1990s TV sitcom Blossom, but she didn’t follow the typical child-star trajectory. Instead, Mayim got her PhD in neuroscience from UCLA, married her college sweetheart, and had two kids. BURBANK, Calif. (July 11, 2011) — Excitement is building for Comic-Con 2011, and fans of the hit television series “The Big Bang Theory,” “Chuck,” “Fringe” and “The Vampire Diaries” will have a one-of-a-kind collectible item to bring home from this year’s Con, thanks to Warner Bros. Television (WBTV) and TV Guide Magazine. The magazine and WBTV are again teaming up to create a TV Guide Magazine Comic-Con special issue devoted solely to programming from WBTV and the Studio, and the four fan-favorite series listed above will appear on four different collectible covers.

TV Guide Comic-Con 2011 Covers

  • All four collectible covers will be distributed at the Warner Bros. booth, #4545, on the convention floor throughout Comic-Con, beginning on preview night, Wednesday, July 20, and continuing through Sunday, July 24.
  • For those not able to attend Comic-Con in person: Fear not! All four collectible covers will be on sale from July 21–28 at newsstand checkout wherever TV Guide Magazine is sold and will also be available at additional newsstands thereafter.
