MO – MIND MGMT Signing
March 24, 2013 by Colin Solan
Filed under Comic Books, Missouri, Signing and Appearance Profiles
Artist and writer Matt Kindt (Pistolwhip, Super Spy, 3 Story, Revolver, Frankenstein: Agent of Shade) will be at Star Clipper from noon to 2 pm on Wednesday, April 3 to sign copies of his MIND MGMT trade paperback!
From ifanboy: “20th Century Fox has secured the film rights to Mind MGMT, the ESPionage romp from cartoonist Matt Kindt and Dark Horse. While the adaptation is not yet linked to a writer or director, Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Prometheus) will produce the feature under his Scott Free logo along with Dark Horse’s own Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg.
Mind MGMT tells the story of Henry Lime and Meru, a spy and true crime writer respectively, caught up in the absurd, mysterious, often horrific world of government sanctioned psionic warfare and alphabet soup intrigue. The comic itself is ongoing, but there’s already plenty of fodder for great cinema, including planes full (and then not) of missing memories, creepy dolphins and no shortage of conspiracy. It could well be Men Who Stare at Goats, but great.
We’re keeping our eyes on this one.”

Filed under Comic Books, Missouri, Other, Signing and Appearance Profiles
Press Release:
Have you ever asked yourself, “Does Superman violate privacy laws when he uses X-ray vision?” “Does the second Amendment protect Iron Man’s suit?” “Is the Joker really legally insane?” Well, these are the first three questions that lawyers James Daily and Ryan Davidson ask in their new book The Law of Superheroes. Based on the successful blog Law and The Multiverse, The Law of Superheroes is a fun and in-depth examination of the hypothetical legal implications your favorite comic book characters might face in the real world.
Star Clipper is excited to host co-author James Daily, J.D. on Saturday, November 3 from 12 – 3 p.m. to sign copies of The Law of Superheroes and moderate a Q & A about Law and The Multiverse! Yes, you can finally get answers to the questions you never dared to ask, like “Is Spider-Man’s webbing misused as unlawful detainment?” or “How enforceable is a restraining order against a psychic like Emma Frost?”
Come dressed in costume and ask for legal counsel* that might affect the character you are portraying! James Daily, lawyer to the superheroic, will answer your question on the spot.
Restraining order keeping you from coming out? Submit your fantasy legal question to Star Clipper’s Facebook or Twitter page and we’ll post James Daily’s answer.

Kevin Huizenga and Dan Zettwoch sign at Star Clipper Comics on Friday, June 22 at 7 p.m.!
Press Release:
St. Louis-based creators Kevin Huizenga and Dan Zettwoch will both introduce new collections of their work published by Drawn & Quarterly Friday, June 22 at 7 p.m.!
In GLORIANA, Kevin Huizenga exposes the mechanics that underpin everyday life. Huizenga has an understated, quiet approach to story writing that allows his characters (and his readers) the self-awareness to recognize the humor and tragedy of the quotidian.
In Dan Zettwoch’s BIRDSEYE BRISTOE, a mysterious stranger comes to town… only the town is not really a town and the stranger is a gigantic cell-phone tower! The town of Birdseye Bristoe (a portmanteau created from an interstate sign that points to two real towns) has only one real permanent resident, an old-timer known only as Uncle. Birdseye Bristoe begins with the destruction of the cell tower and works backward to unravel the story of its fall.
Meet the artists at an opening reception from 7 to 10 p.m., and get your picture taken with the characters of GLORIANA and BIRDSEYE BRISTOE!
Exclusive prints by the artists will be offered with any purchase of a Kevin Huizenga or Dan Zettwoch book by Drawn & Quarterly.
