    About This Convention
    The 26th Annual Motor City Comic Con is Michigan’s largest (and best!) Pop Culture event. With over 300,000 square feet of exhibit and function space it features the best guests from the world of Comics, TV, Film, Horror, Wrestling, Cosplay and more. The largest vendor area of any Michigan Con features over 1 million comic books for sale and trade, gaming, Anime + Manga, new and collectible toys, clothing and accessories, Pop Culture inspired crafts, posters and much much more. Other programming includes The MCCC CosPlay contest (all ages) on Saturday afternoon, Kid’s CosPlay contest(under 13), Panel discussions with your favorite comic book artists, Q & A’s with the Stars, 501st Legion Fun Area, Star Wars Costume Parade, 24 hour Animation Room featuring the best NEW Anime, Magic the Gathering and other CCG tournaments, Dungeons and Dragons tournament. Sunday is K id’s Day: all children 12 and under are FREE on Sunday and there will be special events just for the kids.

    13 Coins is the story of John Pozner, a tormented ex-con on a quest for vengeance, when he discovers that he is descended from angels, and is the living key to Earth’s future, or Heaven’s fall.

    Simon Bisley is hugely popular for his work on Lobo, Judge Dredd vs Batman and Hellblazer as well as ABC Warriors and Slaine for 2000AD.

    Martin Brennan has written computer game scripts for Square Enix and IO Interactive and was the co-creator on Hitman: Absolution. 13 Coins is his first work in comics.

A champion of cosplay, Ivy will be this year’s guest judge of the annual costume contest, currently scheduled to be held on Sunday August 10, 2014. Additionally, she will host a Cosplay 101 panel to answer questions for anyone interested in getting into the hobby and doesn’t know where to start.     About Ivy Doomkitty:
    Ivy Doomkitty is an International Costume Designer/Cosplayer, Host, Artist, Gamer, and Figure Model for comic book artist/writer, Frank Cho, based in Los Angeles. Ivy has been attending conventions for many years, before deciding to take the plunge by showing her fandom through cosplay.

    She now uses this new found passion to create her own costumes and use them to bring to life her favorite characters from gaming and comics as well as creating a positive impact in the cosplay community. She strives to show others in the community that you can do something you love, regardless of gender, skin color, sexual orientation, body shape/size, etc.

    Ivy was recently the Featured Cosplayer on the Premier Episode of the webseries, “Cospladies”, a short documentary on the trials, tribulations, and love of cosplay. Ivy is also a member of the West Coast Avengers/Avengers Initiative, taking part in charity events in Southern California.

    Ivy heavily promotes the art of Cosplay at every convention that she is a guest at, including participating in panels, judging the costume contest, and meeting many fans that are interested in starting in the craft. In the past, she has interviewed some incredible talent, including Stan Lee, Lou Ferrigno, Arthur Suydam, Michael Golden, and more. She has also written comic book reviews, in addition to presenting and hosting costume contests.     Archie Comics’ Dan Parent Comes to Boston Comic Con 2014

    Archie Comics writer and artist DAN PARENT makes his first appearance at Boston Comic Con for this year’s show!  A graduate of the Kubert School, Dan began working for Archie immediately after graduation. One of the most popular and prolific creators on the Archie roster, Dan is best known for creating the Riverdale gang’s first openly gay character, Kevin Keller. He has also worked on notable storylines including Archie’s first interracial romance with Valerie (of the Pussycats), and guest appearances by Barack Obama, KISS, George Takei, and the cast of Glee.

    Firefly’s Jewel Staite Comes to Boston Comic Con 2014

    Boston Comic Con is excited to welcome JEWEL STAITE to our 2014 convention n August 8th – 10th! Jewel Staite is best known for playing Kaylee Frye, the cheerful ship’s mechanic, on Joss Whedon’s beloved space western series Firefly. Jewel made her feature film debut reprising the role in 2005’s Serenity. Since then she has gone on to portray Dr. Jennifer Keller on Syfy’s Stargate: Atlantis alongside fellow Boston Comic Con guest Jason Momoa. Jewel has also held roles on series including The Killing, State of Syn, Animism, The L.A. Complex, and Space Cases. Furthermore she has made appearances on several genre shows like Supernatural, The X-Files, and Warehouse 13.

    Boston Comic Con Returns in August 2014

    Boston Comic Con has announced its initial details for next year’s convention! Following the phenomenal success of the 2013 show, the 2014 convention will again be held in August at the Seaport World Trade Center on Boston’s historic waterfront. The promoters have added an additional day to the convention which is scheduled to run Friday August 8th till Sunday August 10th. Joining the festivities this year is an all-star list of comic creators including: Rafael Albuquerque, Tim Bradstreet, Amanda Conner, Mike Kunkel, Jorge Molina, Dustin Nguyen, Jimmy Palmiotti, Carlos Pacheco, Ramón Pérez, Esad Ribic, Gail Simone, Cat Staggs, and many more! Additionally, the first media guests have been announced: Torchwood’s Eve Myles and Spike himself, James Marsters!     UK – 2000 AD Celebrates 35th Anniversary

    It’s been the cutting edge powerhouse of British comics since 1977 – and now 2000 AD is celebrating 35 years of Thrill-power with its first ever National Signing Event!

    Just days before DREDD 3D hits movie screens, on Saturday 1st September five comic book stores in five cities from north to south will play host to a band, nay, a legion of top British comic book talent from the past three and a half decades. From old hands such as Dave Gibbons and Simon Bisley to the newest finds such as Al Ewing and Alec Worley, we’ll be celebrating Britain’s greatest export across the nation!

    Forbidden Planet stores in London, Bristol, and Birmingham, along with Travelling Man stores in Leeds and Manchester, and the Forbidden Planet store in Edinburgh will be stuffed with artists and writers who have made 2000 AD what it is today.

    Legendary writer, and Dredd and Strontium Dog co-creator, John Wagner will be headlining the day with a visit to Manchester and other big names now confirmed include Dave Gibbons (Rogue Trooper, Watchmen), Simon Bisley (Sláine: The Horned God, Lobo), Steve Yeowell (Zenith), Clint Langley (Sláine, ABC Warriors) Dan Abnett (Sinister Dexter, Kingdom), John Higgins (Judge Dredd), D’Israeli (Leviathan), Ian Edginton (Leviathan, Red Seas), and Mark Buckingham (Fables).

    UK – Slaine the Horned God Signing

    Pat Mills & Simon Bisley sign the new hardcover of the classic SLAINE THE HORNED GOD (2000AD) at the Forbidden Planet London Megastore on Saturday 23rd June 1 – 2pm.

    The warrior barbarian Slaine, master of the warp spasm, wielder of the mighty axe Brainbiter, Celtic warrior king – faces his greatest challenge: the existence of his world is at stake as he prepares to follow the ways of the Horned God. It is a path that can give him control over nature itself or unleash a new age of witchcraft and dark forces.

    Pat Mills is one of the founding fathers of 2000AD and one of the most respected comic book writers around. He’s created some of the longest-running characters for the title such as Slaine, ABC Warriors, and Nemesis The Warlock. His other work includes writing and developing Judge Dredd and Charley’s War.

    Simon Bisley is best known for his work on ABC Warriors, Lobo, Slaine, and for his current work on Hellblazer. He was also the inpsiration for Simon Pegg’s character graphic artist Tim Bisley in the sitcom Spaced.
