Cartoonist  Gene Luen Yang (American Born Chinese, Boxers & Saints) appears at Tattered Cover Books on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 6:00 PM!

From graphic novel superstar and National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, Gene Luen Yang comes a wildly entertaining new series that combines logic puzzles and basic programming instruction with a page-turning mystery plot. In Secret Coders 02: Paths & Portals, Stately Academy is a school that is just crawling with mysteries to be solved. Using their wits and their growing prowess with coding, Hopper and her friend Eni are going to solve at least one of these mysteries no matter what it takes.

Bookworks and Albuquerque Academy co-host Gene Luen Yang on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 3:00 PM!

Gene Luen Yang is the Children’s Book Council’s & Library of Congress National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature. He was recently awarded a MacArthur Genius Fellowship. Yang began making comics and graphic novels over fifteen years ago. In 2006, his book American Born Chinese was published by First Second Books. It became the first graphic novel to be nominated for a National Book Award and the first to win the American Library Association’s Printz Award. It also won an Eisner Award for Best Graphic Album – New. In 2013, First Second Books released Boxers & Saints, his two-volume graphic novel about the Boxer Rebellion. Boxers & Saints was nominated for a National Book Award and won the L.A. Times Book Prize.

His other works include the comics continuation of the popular Nickelodeon cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender. Currently, he writes New Super-Man for DC Comics.
