DC – Cartoonists Remember 9/11

Jim Toomey speaks on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, more than 90 artists from the major comic syndicates will dedicate their Sunday strips on Sept. 11, 2011, to those who lost their lives in the attacks.

Jim Toomey, one of the participants and creator of the nationally syndicated cartoon “Sherman’s Lagoon,” will discuss the project, titled “Cartoonists Remember 9/11.”

Toomey will sketch some of his favorite sea creatures as he shares his love of the ocean and the stories it can tell.

“Sherman’s Lagoon” appears in more than 150 newspapers in the United States and around the world. The main characters include Sherman, a happy-go-lucky shark, and his sidekick Fillmore, a pensive sea turtle.

Seating is on a space-available basis.
