This new ongoing series follows two friends navigating the challenges of life and love in the big city. Broken Frontier praised the debut issue as a “manga-flavored fantasy-comedy (that sees Jason) growing into his own highly individualized voice.” Jason will exhibit original art from the book and also produce two exclusive prints just for this show.

Writers from all backgrounds and experiences join to talk about research, listening, soliciting criticism, and how to make sure you’re writing well when you’re outside the comfort zone of your own perspective. Cartoonist Bryan Lee O’Malley appears at the Town Hall on Saturday July 19th at 6:30 pm for a signing of his new graphic novel Seconds.
This edition of Verse Chapter Verse features an author Q&A with Canadian cartoonist Bryan Lee O’Malley, sandwiched between the musical stylings of Seattle-based Tacocat. Magic mushrooms, second chances, and best intentions all surface in O’Malley’s newest work. Seconds: A Graphic Novel follows the journey of chef Katie, her restaurant-related business exploits, ex-boyfriend, and what it means to start over. The event is presented as part of Verse Chapter Verse, The Stranger’s readings-and-music series, with books editor Paul Constant. The Q&A will take place between brief Tacocat sets — a palindrome, a foursome, and a “pop-punk-pop” band. O’Malley is the author of New York Times bestselling Scott Pilgrim series.
Presented by: Town Hall and The Stranger, in partnership with University Book Store, as part of the Arts & Culture series. Sponsored by City Arts.
Town Hall Member Benefits: Priority seating, discounted onsite book sales.
