Meet artist/writer Sean Gordon Murphy (Punk Rock Jesus, The Wake) at the Kinokuniya Bookstore on Saturday, March 21st at 2:00 pm for an event to commemorate the launch of his new series written by superstar writer Mark Millar (Kingsman, Kick-Ass), Chrononauts! Sean will also talk about his awesome apprenticeship project launched on Kickstarter in which he enlisted six art students to apprentice their work and help create Cafe Racer! Chrononauts #1: From MARK MILLAR and SEAN GORDON MURPHY comes a bromance for the ages! Corbin Quinn and Danny Reilly are two buddies who love to have fun. They’re also scientific geniuses. When their research leads them to a time-traveling adventure, will they use their knowledge for the good of all mankind? Or use the space-time continuum for their own ends? This is the story of man’s first, televised steps through the time-stream and everything going wrong in the process.

About the book:
As a toddler, Orchid and her father barely escaped Japan during the Doolittle Raid of WWII. Years later, Orchid is still an outcast as she speeds her way into London’s Cafe Racer motorcycle society. Defying both racial and sexist stereotypes, the half-Japanese teenager is unbeatable in a race–much to the disappointment of her father, who forbids her from riding his mysterious motorcycle. After discovering friendship in the most unexpected places, she soon uncovers the truth of the bike, along with its connection to the disappearance of her mother in pre-war Japan.
Cafe Racer is a story told through seven vignettes, also including extra features such as pencils, concept art, and other behind the scenes artwork.

Double Midnight Comics hosted their annual Granite State Comicon in Manchester, NH this past Sunday. Despite the wet weather, it was a packed house with several cosplayers showing up in character. Guests included local writers of The Cape Joe Hill and Jason Ciaramella plus artist Zach Howard, who received many well-wishes on their recent Eisner Award nomination. Artist Sean Gordon Murphy talked about his upcoming storyarc on American Vampire and what it was like working with Grant Morrison on Joe the Barbarian. And several contributors, including co-creators Rich Woodall and Adam Miller, from the ZombieBomb Comic Anthology were on hand to meet fans. It may only be a one-day show but supporting local homegrown conventions like this is the best way to encourage them to grow and for retailers to bring in more comic creators for signings. Thanks, Double Midnight!
Sean Murphy appears at a launch party for Joe the Barbarian at Bergen Street Comics (between Flatbush & 5th Avenues) Brooklyn on Saturday, January 30th 7pm-close. Original pages will be on display. Refreshments will be served and Sean will be signing.
