Hero Initiative, the charitable organization dedicated to helping veteran comic creators in medical or financial need, is heading to New York Comic Con at the Javits Center located at 655 West 34th St. on October 9-12.

Legendary writer and editor Denny O’Neil will be at the con on FRIDAY only and will be doing his ONLY signing appearance at the Hero booth from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This the ONLY place you can get Denny’s signature, so don’t miss out. Get to booth number N104-106 EARLY!

Hero is honored to be part of the Image Comics/Multiversity Comics NYCC party as well! Fans 21 and older are invited to show up at Stitch at 247 W. 37th St (at 8th Ave.) and hang out and have a cocktail with Scott Snyder, Brian K. Hero Initiative at Phoenix Comic Con 2012

Artist/writer Stuart Immonen (New Avengers, Ultimate Spider-Man) will raffle off four sketches each day of the Phoenix Comicon (Phoenix AZ, May 24 – 27, 2012) to benefit the Hero Initiative. This is a rare opportunity to commission a sketch as Immonen famously declines requests as outlined in his book 50 Reasons to Stop Sketching at Conventions.

Hero Initiative, the non profit organization that helps comic creators in need, is spending its Memorial Day weekend at Phoenix Comic Con, May 24th thru 27th at the Phoenix Convention Center Hyatt Regency, booth #1048-1050.

Artist Stuart Immonen will be helping Hero out at the con! The artist of Marvel Comics’ X-Men and Fear Itself will be at his own artist alley table, but sketching ONLY for Hero! Stuart will do four full-size 11-by-17-commission sketches per day. To get in in, you MUST purchase raffle tickets at $1 each. Four tickets per day will be drawn, and winners will pay $200 for a single-character, full-figure grey marker wash drawing. Drawings take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at noon!

In addition, you MUST buy the Spawn/Lady Death Phoenix Con print with art by Andy Arias and inked by Todd McFarlane! Both McFarlane and Lady Death creator Brian Pulido will sign each print, limited to 250 serial-numbered pieces. All proceeds benefit Hero Initiative.

And go see John Layman! Layman, writer of the Image Comics hit Chew, has sat on both sides of the pitching process as an editor and as a creator. He’ll be putting on a special panel Sunday, May 27 at 130 p.m. to tell you what it takes to develop a winning pitch for your comics and graphic novels! May 31, 2011 (Los Angeles): Hero Initiative, the non-profit organization that helps comic creators in medical and financial need, will be attending Charlotte North Carolina’s Heroescon June 3rd, 4th and 5th. The comics-first and family-friendly convention will be held at the Charlotte Convention Center located at?501 S. College St.?Charlotte, NC. Joining us is three time Eisner Award nominee and Captain America: Patriot creator Karl Kesel. Karl will be sketching for fans throughout the weekend to raise money for our worthy cause. Make sure you stop and get a sketch while helping Hero!

In addition, we will have newly released New Avengers 100 Project books for sale at the booth. Marvel Comics has generously donated 100 blank-covered cardstock copies of New Avengers #1 to Hero, various artists from all over the country donated original covers and we have put them all together in one wonderful compilation. Mid-Ohio-Con today announced that Ray Park and James Kyson Lee will headline Mid-Ohio-Con 2009 as special media guests. Park is best known as Darth Maul from Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace and he will star in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra opening on August 7th. James Kyson Lee is best known for his starring role as Ando Masahashi in Heroes, which will return to NBC for its 4th season this fall.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have these two superstars on board for our 2009 show,” said James Henry, Managing Director of Mid-Ohio-Con. “Mid-Ohio-Con 2008 was acclaimed as one of the best events in Mid-Ohio-Con’s long history and we’re going to recreate last year’s magic with a who’s who of the leading names from the worlds of comic books, gaming, film, and television at this year’s show.”

The fast-growing guest list for 2009 also features guests of honor Bernie Wrightson and Michael Golden along with Art Baltazar, Jacob Chabot, Ron Frenz, Gary Friedrich, Bryan J.L.
