Connecticut ComiCONN adds more Comic Legends to 3 Day Event!
Connecticut ComiCONN celebrates its 5th annual event with a move to the Webster Bank Arena and expands to a 3-Day event!
To meet the demands of its’ ever-growing fan base, Connecticut ComiCONN (a.k.a. ComiCONN) has moved to a larger venue and added additional days to its con to be held August 15-17 at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT.
ComiCONN has been providing fans of comic books, collectibles and cosplay an event to come out and celebrate their passion for years and is the Nutmeg State’s largest event of its kind. “ComiCONN has always been called “a show for the fans by the fans”, said ComiCONN organizer, Mitch Hallock, “For that reason we are assembling three days saluting the glory of comics with some of their greatest creators”.
This year’s confirmed guests for the show include: George Perez, David Finch, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, Klaus Janson, Neal Adams, Denny O’Neil, Keith Giffen, Bob Layton, Lee Weeks, Franco, Howard Porter, Jerry Ordway, J.M. DeMatteis, Chris Giarrusso, Ann Nocenti, Rich Buckler, Frank McLaughlin, Paul Kupperberg, Tom Raney, Scott Hanna, Arthur Suydam, Howard Mackie, Ryder Windham, Bob Wiacek, Mark McKenna, Jamal Igle, Billy Tucci, Adam Wallentta, Todd Dezago, Jack Purcell, Melissa Benson, Bob Camp, Jim Salicrup, Danny Fingeroth and more. As usual ComiCONN offers fans a shopping mecca for modern and vintage comic books, toys, movie props and memorabilia, artwork and gaming supplies. ComiCONN will also host panels, live music, costume and trivia contests for kids and adults and a whole lot more. Artist Scott Hanna and writer Doug Moench sign at Beachead Comics on Saturday May 25th from noon till 3:00pm! Scott has drawn just about every major character for Marvel and DC Comics; Doug is the acclaimed writer of Batman, Moon Knight, Werewolf By Night, Batman, Master of Kung-Fu and many, many more series for every comics publisher in existence. Both will autograph comics for customers and guests and Scott will do FREE sketches (time permitting). Copies of their comics work available for sale the day of the event. Everyone is welcome to attend, and there will NOT be any admission charge.

Walt Simonson and Louise “Weezie” Simonson are coming back to HeroesCon!! Walt exploded on to the comics scene with Manhunter in the 70s and when on to influence generations with his incredible work on The Mighty Thor, X-Men/Teen Titans crossover, and X-Factor! Louise is a writer known for great runs on Power Pack, X-Factor, New Mutants, and Superman: The Man of Steel! We are honored these great creators and great people are taking the time to join us to celebrate our 30th Anniversary!
Herb Trimpe has worked on dozens of titles for Marvel Comics including The Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Shogun Warriors, Godzilla and more. Of course he also illustrated that awesome 1st appearance of Wolverine in Hulk #181!
Georges Jeanty is like family at HeroesCon–the longtime penciller of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer comic series has also drawn Green Lantern, Superboy, Superman, and tons more! We’re happy he’s making the trek from his new home on the West Coast to see us!

HeroesCon announced over 20 new guest additions this week to an already enormous guest list! Included are superstars like Neal Adams, Jim Starlin, Tim Sale, and many more! HeroesCon takes place on June 3 – 5, 2011 at the Charlotte Convention Center (501 S. College St, Charlotte, NC 28202). HeroesCon is very happy to announce that Neal Adams will be attending HeroesCon 2011! Neal is a living legend known for bringing a realism to superhero comics that didn’t exist before his arrival. Illustrating classic comics like Green Lantern #76 (pictured), Strange Adventures (creating the definitive look for Deadman), and many more, Neal went on to be DC’s primary cover artist during the 70?s. He later went on to found Continuity Comics and most recently he is writing and illustrating Batman: Odyssey at DC Comics.
Scott Hampton’s gorgeous work was recently seen in the pages of Hellboy: The Sleeping and the Dead. Try to catch Scott painting on our art stage for the Annual Art Auction. He always creates something spectacular!
Painter Erik Jones has quickly made a name for himself in comics with his gorgeous covers for books like Hack/Slash, Witchblade, and Unkown and is currently doing covers for the new Elric series.
Heidi MacDonald is the brains behind the fantastic comics news site The Beat. Always insightful and informative, she has guided the site through it’s many incarnations while remaining a great resource to the comics industry and it’s fans.
David Mack is an Eisner-nominated and New York Times bestselling painter, writer, and cartoonist behind Kabuki, The Shy Creatures, numerous Daredevil arcs, and much more.
Writer Ben McCool has been doing tons of work lately, namely Memoir, Captain America: The Korvac Saga, and Choker.
Chris Moreno’s work has appeared in ZombieBomb 4: Dark Daze, Disney’s Toy Story for BOOM! Studios, The Minions of Ka from Arcana, and Paul Jenkins’ Sidekick from Image Comics. His creator-owned character, Sanz Pantz: Ninja Platypus appears in the Popgun anthologies from Image. His other comics credits include Alien Inventor, World War Hulk: Frontline, Dracula vs. King Arthur, Monkey in a Wagon vs. Lemur on a Big Wheel, The Last Sin of Mark Grimm, the webcomic Super Frat, and Zenescope’s Grimm Fairy Tales.
Jeff Parker is no stranger to regular HeroesCon attendees or anyone that’s read a Marvel comic in the last few years for that matter! Since the success of his creator-owned The Interman, Jeff has gone on to write Hulk, Thunderbolts, Agents of Atlas and many other titles. One of my personal favorites is Mysterius the Unfathomable, with artist Tom Fowler.
We’re excited to welcome Tim Sale back to HeroesCon this summer. Besides extraordinarily popular books like Batman: The Long Halloween and Spider-Man: Blue, Tim also did the paintings (with Dave Stewart) for the Isaac character on the television series Heroes.
