Cartoonist Stephan Pastis, creator of the comic strip Pearls Before Swine, appears at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 7:30 PM to celebrate the release of the newest Pearls treasury. Pastis promises to disclose all his vices, overshare, and tell you all you want to know about Pearls Before Swine. Sit back in astonishment and horror and enjoy some of the most popular (and least popular) Pearls strips from the past few years. And as if that’s not enough of a draw (oh, look, a pun!), Pastis will also be signing copies of his newest treasury, Pearls Hogs the Road.

CA – Supergirl Colorist Signing

Michael Atiyeh appears at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 1:00 PM. He has worked on a variety of projects for Dark Horse Comics (Star Wars, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Tomb Raider), DC Comics (All-Star Western, Bat-Mite, and Lobo). In 2012, he was part of the team that launched Shinku, a creator-owned title published by Image Comics that has received critical acclaim. Atiyeh’s work also appeared in a series of Little Golden Books—featuring Marvel Superheroes.

CA – Storyboarding for Animation Workshop

Storyboard artist Gavin Freitas (The Simpsons, Fairly Oddparents, and Spongebob 2 the Movie) appears at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Friday, December 30th at 1:00 PM for a presentation and hands-on workshop in creating storyboards for animated movies. Freitas will show how storyboards are created from pencil to paper to digital works, including a look at storyboard from the award-winning special A Charlie Brown Christmas. Following his presentation, attendees are invited to work with Freitas to learn to create your own storyboards. This presentation and workshop are free with Museum admission.

CA – HowToons Signing

Nick Dragotta appears at the Schulz Museum on Saturday, October 8th at 1:00 PM. He is the artist and co-creator, along with writer Jonathan Hickman, of the breakout hit 2013, East of West. Dragotta also worked on the landmark run of X-Statix with Peter Milligan and many other top Marvel characters such as Captain America, Spider-Man, the X-Men, FF, and others. Dragotta is also the artist and co-creator of Howtoons with MacArthur grant recipient Saul Griffith. Howtoons is an educational children’s comic that teaches kids how to makes things using everyday household goods, incorporating instructions into storytelling.

CA – Bread and Butter Signing

Writer and illustrator Liz Mayoraga appears at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 1:00 till 3:00 PM! She debuted her comic, Bread and Butter, with Rosarium Publishing in July. Liz started her work by self-publishing zines, and has been involved with the SF Zine Fest since 2009. Her stories are a combination of working class experiences and Popular Culture. Liz has also done workshops for youth programs, and enjoys working in art and education.

CA – Hazardous Tales Signing

Cartoonist Nathan Hale appears at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Saturday, July 30 at 1:00 PM to draw and tell hilarious stories from American History, including an exclusive live-only Hazardous Tale from his New York Times Bestselling graphic novel series Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales. Hale is the illustrator of the Eisner-nominated graphic novel Rapunzel’s Revenge, which was an Al Roker Book Club for Kids selection, an ALA Notable Book, and a YALSA Great Graphic Novel for Teens. Hale will sign and draw pictures in books after his talk.
