Illustrator Michelle McNeil appears at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Saturday, October 14th at 1:00 PM. Her cartoony and humorous work has been featured in everything from rock show posters to an ad campaign for the UCSF Library. She currently works as a graphic artist for the San Francisco Public Library.

CA – Dav Pilkey Signing

Dav Pilkey, author/illustrator of the bestselling Captain Underpants and Dog Man series appears at the Schulz Museum on Saturday, September 30, 2017! Join us for an epic family fun event featuring a presentation and live drawing by Dav Pilkey at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm followed by a book signing. Create your own cartoons, take a photo with Dog Man and Captain Underpants, and enjoy activities and giveaways! Dav Pilkey has written and illustrated numerous popular, award-winning books for children including Dog Breath, winner of the California Young Reader Medal; and The Paperboy, a Caldecott Honor Book.

Free tickets will be available starting at 10:00 am on the day of the event. Seating is limited and tickets will be given away on a first come, first serve basis.

CA – Breaking Up Is Hard To Do Signing

Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell, California born cartoonist and documentary filmmaker, appears at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Saturday, September 9th at 1:00 PM. Her cartoons have appeared in The New Yorker, Cosmopolitan, GQ and more. She co-illustrated NY Times columnist Jessica Bennett’s critically acclaimed book Feminist Fight Club and her first book Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, But You Could’ve Done Better was recently published by Animal Media Group. Her films This Is Not The End and Small Talk have won awards at festivals across the country.

CA – Charles M. Schulz Museum 15th Anniversary Celebration

The Charles M. Schulz Museum celebrates its 15th anniversary on Saturday, August 12, 2017 with an all-star lineup of cartoonists!

Jeff Smith, creator of the award-winning comic book series Bone, will speak about his work and sign books as part of the Museum’s 15th anniversary celebration. Like Charles Schulz did for the comic strip, Smith redefined the graphic novel format when he released The Complete Bone Adventures Volume One: Out From Boneville, which sold an unprecedented 50,000 copies in its first year. Bone won numerous awards including 10 Eisner Awards and 11 Harveys. In 2005, Bone was chosen to launch the first graphic novel series for children from a major publishing house, Graphix, an imprint of Scholastic Books. Smith’s other works include Rasl and Tuki. Smith will headline a celebration of cartooning that will include:

11:00 am: Jarrett Krosoczka, New York Times best-selling creator of Star Wars: Jedi Academy and the Lunch Lady series will speak about his work.

Noon – 2:00 pm: Meet, watch, and talk to a variety of current professional cartoonists including Nathan Hale, creator of Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales; Svetlana Chmakova of Awkward; plus Donna Almendrala, Brent Anderson, Tom Beland, Andrew Farago, Brian Fies, Mike Gray, Jaimel Hemphill, Scott Jeralds, Maia Kobabe, Brian Kolm, Emily Martin, Haley Martin, Jeff Schinkel, Denis St. John, and Thomas Yeates.

2:00 pm: In conversation with Jeff Smith, led by Paige Braddock of Jane’s World and Lex Fajardo of Kid Beowulf. Jeff Smith, creator of the award-winning graphic novel series Bone, will discuss his work and the influence of Charles Schulz on his art and cartooning in general. Smith will sign books after this talk.

CA – Fantastical: The Art of Matt Gaser Signing

Matt Gaser, a Spectrum award winning Freelance illustrator/visual development artist, appears at the Schulz Museum on Saturday, July 8th at 1:00 PM. Gaser has worked on Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, Green Lantern: the animated series, and recently The Angry Birds Movie, among other projects. He’s also published a new book about his personal work and stories called Fantastical: The Art of Matt Gaser.

CA – Peter Coyote Signing

Actor and writer Peter Coyote  (ET the Extra Terrestrial, A Walk to Remember, Sphere) appears at the Schulz Museum on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM will read from and sign his new book, The Rainman’s Third Cure: An Irregular Education.

Coyote has acted in over 120 films for some of the world’s most distinguished filmmakers, including Barry Levinson, Pedro Almodovar, and Steven Spielberg. He is an Emmy-Award winning narrator of over 170 documentary films, including Ken Burns, National Parks, Prohibition, The West, the Dust Bowl and the acclaimed The Roosevelts for which he received his second Emmy. Coyote’s memoir of the 1960s counterculture, Sleeping Where I Fall, received universally excellent reviews. His new book, The Rainman’s Third Cure: An Irregular Education, about mentors and the search for wisdom, was nominated for one of the top five books in Northern California in 2015.

CA – BlackJacks Signing

Cartoonist Jaimel Hemphill appears at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Saturday, June 10th at 1:00 PM. Educated at The Academy of Art in San Francisco, Hemphill has applied his talent and unique style to his work writing and illustrating for the comics BlackJacks, Son-Lar, and Menhit the Mighty produced by NPC Comics.

CA – The Knights of Boo’Gar Signing

Cartoonist Art Roche appears at the Schulz Museum on Saturday, May 20th at 1:00 PM to speak about and sign his newest illustrated novel The Knights of Boo’Gar, a wacky medieval mystery for middle grade readers. In addition to cartooning, Roche has worked as a game developer and for Cartoon Network where he created the popular animated series Nacho Bear.

CA – Ethen Beavers Signing

Ethen Beavers appears at the Schulz Museum on Saturday, May 13th at 1:00 PM. He has worked as a penciler, inker, and colorist on a slew of comics and children’s books for the last 14 years or so. He has illustrated comics at DC, Dark Horse and IDW on titles like Star Wars, Batman, Justice League Unlimited, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Indiana Jones, Ben 10, and Samurai Jack. In Children’s Publishing he was responsible for (among other things) the art on several DC Superhero Little Golden Books and was also the regular artist on the NY Times bestselling series NERDS.
