CA – Usagi Yojimbo Signing

Usagi Yojimbo Exclusive Lithograph

Award-winning cartoonist Stan Sakai, creator of the Eisner-winning graphic novel series Usagi Yojimbo, appears at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 2:00 PM to speak about his work and sign books.

Sakai has received five Eisner awards for Usagi Yojimbo, first published in 1984 and still continuing today. In addition, Sakai has received the 2014 Inkwell Award, 2007 Harvey Award, 2002 National Cartoonists Society Comic Book Division Awards, and the Cultural Ambassador Award from the Japanese American Museum, among many others. Sakai has also worked on projects including Bart Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror #7, Star Wars, and Marvel’s Strange Tales. He is also an award-winning letterer for his work on the Spider-Man comic strip and Sergio Aragones’ Groo the Wanderer.

Sakai will appear alongside Julie Fujii with whom he recently collaborated on a piece about Charlie Brown in Japan for the new Peanuts Tribute book.

CA – The Homeless Channel Signing

Matt Silady, an Eisner-nominated cartoonist and Chair of California College of the Arts MFA in Comics program, appears at the Schulz Museum on Saturday, March 12th at 1:00 PM. In June of 2007, Silady published his first graphic novel, The Homeless Channel, which was nominated for an Eisner award. Recent projects include serving as Guest Editor of the SF Weekly Comics Issue and the launch of the inaugural San Francisco Comics Festival.

CA – Gumby’s Gang Signing

Cartoonists Michael Aushenker and Rafael Navarro, who worked together on the recent Gumby’s Gang Starring Pokey comic books, appear at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.

Aushenker’s own work includes Greenblatt The Great and El Gato: Crime Mangler. He has also written Bart Simpson comics and is the author of the best-selling children’s book Get That Goat! Navarro has earned an Emmy for his work as an animation storyboard artist and is the creator of the Xeric Award-winning comic Sonambulo.

CA – Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales Signing

Cartoonist Nathan Hale appears at the Schulz Museum on Sunday June 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM to talk about his work and share an exclusive and hazardous tale from his graphic novel series Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales. Hale is the illustrator of the graphic novel Rapunzel’s Revenge, which was an Al Roker Book Club for Kids selection, an ALA Notable Book, and a YALSA Great Graphic Novel for Teens. Hale will sign books after his talk.
