His SCALPED for Vertigo was insanely good and critically acclaimed. His work on Wolverine is my favorite take on Logan. He’s rocking Ragnarok on Thor: God of Thunder. He even co-wrote Avengers vs X-Men!

Free Comic Book Day 2013 is upon us! Come join us all day long for special sales, prizes, and of course, FREE COMICS!
After a successful 2012 event, we will once again be doing a fund raiser for the Iowa City Animal Center this year! Make a donation during FCBD and get free graphic novels – and the more you donate the more free stuff you get!
We will also be hosting the following comic book creators throughout the day. They will be available to sign autographs, do sketches and talk with fans!
Jason Aaron: Acclaimed writer for Marvel Comics and owner of an amazing beard! Jason is currently writing Wolverine & The X-Men, Thor God of Thunder and Thanos Rising. Previous works include Scalped and The Other Side (Vertigo Comics), Wolverine Weapon X, Incredible Hulk, Ghost Rider, Punishermax, Ultimate Captain America and more!
Phil Hester: Professional comic writer & artist for two decades! Phil has worked for various companies over the years and has also created his own characters! Credits include Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, The Wretch, Firebreather, Godzilla, Green Hornet, The Darkness, Invincible Universe, Gen 13, Ant-Man, and many more!
Eric Gapstur: Finalist in Amazon’s Comic Strip Superstar contest! He currently working on his own strip comic Belle Plaine as well as honing his comic inking skills. He has a couple Green Hornet covers to his credit, and recently completed a Batman Legends of the Dark Knight story with Phil Hester. Be on the lookout for an upcoming Adventures of Superman story in the near future!

Jason Aaron is a frequent and easy recommendation here at Gosh!: there’s his Native American crime series Scalped from Vertigo to point at, plus all the stuff he’s done on Ghost Rider, Punisher Max, and Wolverine. Most recently he’s been dishing out what our own Nathaniel calls “proper comics” in Wolverine & The X-Men, another oft-recommended title. If you’re a CV-enthusiast you can count his Eisner and Harvey nominations among his credentials too.
In November, he’s coming to England and you’ve got not one but two opportunities to meet him. If you’re the kind of person who thinks it’s alright to go out in nowt but a T-shirt in February, you can catch him in Leeds as part of increasingly brilliant Thought Bubble festival (along with dozens of other top names like Kate Beaton and that). But if you’re staying down south with us, make sure you’re here on the 15th of November at 5pm to get your stuff signed by an American in a beard.

Free Comic Book Day is a single day (the first Saturday in May each year) when participating comic book shops all across the world give away comic books absolutely FREE to all comers! Star Clipper in the Delmar Loop always participates in this hugely popular event, to be held Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. We will feature comics from Ape Entertainment, Archie, Archaia, Boom!, Dark Horse, DC, Drawn & Quarterly, IDW, Image, Top Shelf, Disney and Marvel!
This year we will celebrate with comic-themed live entertainment by area bands, superheroes in costume and host our special guest or honor writer Jason Aaron (SCALPED, WOLVERINE, and the current smash hit series WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN)!
The schedule of events is as follows:

Voltron Live: 10 a.m to 12 p.m
