    HERO INITIATIVE Travels to New York City Comic Con with Al Plastino, The BIG Party and exclusive CGC signings

    LOS ANGELES, CA (October 5, 2012) – Hero Initiative, the only federally chartered non-profit that helps comic creators in financial and medical need, is pleased to announce its attendance at New York Comic Con, October 11 thru 14 at the Javits Convention Center, located at 655 West 34th Street in New York. Hero is travelling with an amazing all-star cast of some of the industry’s top comic creators, The Big Multiversity Comics Party, and much more!

    A whopping 16 creators will sign books for CGC Signature Series certification for Hero! Creators include:

    On Friday October 12 at 11 AM on the Variant Stage, Dare2Draw: Quick Draw will feature both professionals artists and fans drawing together using dynamic action models with prizes and samples provided by our awesome sponsors. All drawings by the professionals will be donated to raise money to Hero Initiative in honor of the late Joe Kubert. Drawing supplies will be provided for all contestants and pro artist Simon Fraser will headline! Look for the winner to be announced on Twitter, @BigCityDnD

    Multiversity Comics will host The Big NYCC Party with a bevy of Image Comics creators! Swing by the Houndstooth Pub on 8th Ave between 36th and 37th (a short 3-block walk from the Javits Center) on Friday from 8 PM to midnight. A $10 donation to the Hero Initiative will get you in. It’s a 21+ event, and will assuredly be a fun place for friends, fans and creators to meet, share a drink and mingle. Attendees will include Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples (Saga), Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore (Luther Strode), and Sina Grace, whose new graphic novel Not My Bag will be debuting at NYCC! Stick around, and a few unexpected additional guests might pop in!

    On Saturday, Hero is the ONLY place to meet legendary artist Al Plastino. Al started working on Superman in 1948, and is also the co-creator of SuperboySupergirl, and the Legion of Super-Heroes. So swing by booth #1575-#1577 and don’t miss out!

    Houston, Texas gets a new protector in 2012, and to celebrate Kaine coming to town in SCARLET SPIDER #1 on Wednesday, January 11, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema – West Oaks will be holding a welcome party for their incoming hero!

    The SCARLET SPIDER creative team of writer Chris Yost and artist Ryan Stegman will be in attendance for this special event where fans will get the opportunity to celebrate Texas style.

    Beginning at 12:00 PM and running until 4:00 PM, Yost and Stegman will appear at 8th Dimension Comics & Games in Houston (8475 North Highway 6, Houston, TX 77095) where they will be signing and SCARLET SPIDER #1 will be available.

    From there, the action shifts over to the Alamo Drafthouse at 6:30 PM where seating for the event will begin. Attendees will each receive their own copy of SCARLET SPIDER #1 and be treated to a Marvel-themed pre-show on the big screen.

    At 7:30 PM, Yost, Stegman and moderator Alan Cerny of Ain’t It Cool News will take to the stage for a panel discussing all things SCARLET SPIDER. Finally, the evening will wind down with selected episodes of “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!” written by Yost himself.

    Ryan Ottley, Jason Howard, and Ryan Stegman sign at MaximuM Comics on Saturday November 12, 2011 at their Las Vegas location from 11am – 2pm and their Henderson location from 3:30pm – 7pm. They will be signing ONLY, no sketches.

    Ryan Ottley amazes us every month with his art on Invincible. This is a great book from Image Comics that you should be reading. We have tons of the Trades and Hardcover editions available at both stores!

    Jason Howard who co-created Super Dinosaur with Robert Kirkman and was previously the artist for the Astounding WolfMan! We have the books in stock now at both stores!

    Ryan Stegman who just finished up Fear Itself: Hulk vs Dracula and one of the covers for The Fearless #1 as well as the upcoming Scarlet Spider! Ryan has also worked on a ton of other books at Marvel. We have a lot of stuff at both stores!
