Allen Bellman, Robert Pope Returns To Grand Rapids Comic-Con
The Grand Rapids Comic-Con is pleased to announce that comic book guests Allen Bellman and Robert Pope have both agreed to return to the annual comic book and popular arts event which will be held at the DeltaPlex in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on November 21-23.
Allen Bellman is a Golden Age comic artist who drew the backgrounds for Syd Shores’ Captain America in 1942, and eventually worked on titles such as The Patriot, The Destroyer, The Human Torch, All Winners Comics, Marvel Mystery, Sub Mariner Comics, Young Allies and so much more. Bellman also contributed to pre-Code horror, crime, war and western tales for Atlas.
Robert Pope is the DC Comics go-to guy for Cartoon Network characters. Robert is a penciller on Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, Batman The Brave and The Bold and many others. Robert is also freelancing for the Peanuts franchise for Boom Comics as well as the Power Puff Girls for IDW.
“Allen and Robert were popular guests last October,” said owner and co-event coordinator Mark Hodges, “and bringing both of them back is a service to the 3500 people who were not able to get into the show last time. It is a pleasure and a privilege to have both of them back at the comic-con.”
The Grand Rapids Comic-Con will be held on November 21-23, 2014, at the DeltaPlex Arena and Conference Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. For more information, please visit the website www.grcomiccon.com.

Grand Rapids Comic-Con’s Inaugural Event To Be Held On October 12
The Grand Rapids Comic-Con, a comic book and popular arts convention and trade show, will hold its inaugural event on Saturday, October 12.
The Grand Rapids Comic-Con will feature nationally known comic book illustrators as well as a giant vending room, an Artist Alley with over 20 independent artists, an anime room, an electronics gaming room operated by Nintendo, a card and board gaming room, a world-class art show featuring some of the biggest names in comics, a film festival sponsored by the Compass College of Cinematic Arts, panels, seminars, and a lot more.
National comic book guests include Allen Bellman, a Golden Age artist who drew Captain America during World War II; Robert Pope, the current head artist for DC Comics for the Cartoon Network titles as well as Scooby-Doo and Peanuts; and Dan Monroe, children’s book illustrator of Dennis The Wild Bull written by NBA star Dennis Rodman.
“This is our first year doing the Grand Rapids Comic-Con, and we are expecting a lot of growth in the event,” says co-event coordinator Mark Hodges. “When done right, these events have tremendous growth potential and we are hoping that the Grand Rapids Comic-Con will become one of the marquee events on the West Michigan calendar for years to come.”
“I feel blessed to be a part of this event,” said co-event coordinator Jennifer Hodges.
The inaugural Grand Rapids Comic-Con will be held on Saturday, October 12, from 10 am to 6 pm at the HSB Building, 5625 Burlingame Ave. SW in Wyoming, Michigan. Tickets are $5 and are only available at the door.
Early bird tickets are available at the door at 9 am for $10 with half of the proceeds going to Kitchen Sage, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding inner city Grand Rapids school children and to teach culinary awareness. “We wanted to contribute to the West Michigan area,” said Mark. “We wanted to represent a charitable organization that gave specifically to Grand Rapids and would be a partner in our efforts as well. Kitchen Sage and Chef Tommy FitzGerald fits the bill perfectly.”
“I am so happy that we chose Kitchen Sage and Chef Tommy,” said Jennifer. “He has been wonderful to collaborate with.”

Well Known DC Comics, Cartoon Network Animator Robert Pope to Appear at the Grand Rapids Comic-Con
Atlanta-based Robert Pope is the go-to guy for DC Comics when it comes to their comics based on animated properties. Robert has been the lead artist for Scooby-Doo for well over a decade and has also worked on comics for the Looney Tunes and Cartoon Network franchises, including “Daffy Duck”, “The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy”, “Space Ghost”, “Batman: The Brave And The Bold”, and “Johnny Bravo”.
Robert is also the lead artist for Toyfare magazine and has contributed many memorable covers and interior spreads.
Robert also was an artist for the “Animaniacs” franchise back in the 1990′s under Steven Spielberg.
“This is an ultra rare appearance,” said event coordinator Mark Hodges, “as Robert attends only shows in his general area. From what we understand this will be Robert’s first Midwest appearance, and we are thrilled that he has decided to join us.”
The Grand Rapids Comic-Con will be held on October 12, 2013, at the Home School Building, 5625 Burlingame Ave. SW, in Wyoming, Michigan.
