Rick Remender, Richard Starkings, James Asmus, Phil Ortiz, Scott Koblish, Chuck BB, and more sign at The Comic Bug on Saturday May 4, 2013 for Free Comic Book Day!!
The Comic Bug is launching its most ambitious FREE COMIC BOOK DAY event to date. The store has doubled orders for FREE COMICS from previous years, stocking over 20,000 free comic books to give away to attendees.
Over two dozen comic creators will be on-hand to meet comic fans, including UNCANNY AVENGERS/CAPTAIN AMERICA writer RICK REMENDER, SIMPSONS artist PHIL ORTIZ, DEADPOOL artist SCOTT KOBLISH and ELEPHANTMEN creator RICHARD STARKINGS.
In addition to comic book creator talent, some of Los Angeles most renowned COSPLAYERS will be available to take pictures with fans and family members. Attendees can expect to see the likes of WONDER WOMAN, BATMAN, SCARLETT WITCH and G.I. JOE’s THE BARONESS. The BEACH CITY ROLLER DERBY GIRLS will also be on-hand to help distribute free comics and perform stunts for onlookers.
The Comic Bug is also publishing the first-ever comic book store EXCLUSIVE free comic, GUNS A’BLAZIN /MOUSTACHETRONAUTS TEASER PLEASER EDITION, limited to 500 copies. The creators will be attending to sign and draw sketches for attendees.
The day will wrap up with an after-party for the creators featuring live music by The Do-Its and a DJ set by DJ C-DIDDY.

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 5, 2012) – Hero Initiative, the only federally chartered non-profit that helps comic creators in financial and medical need, is pleased to announce its attendance at New York Comic Con, October 11 thru 14 at the Javits Convention Center, located at 655 West 34th Street in New York. Hero is travelling with an amazing all-star cast of some of the industry’s top comic creators, The Big Multiversity Comics Party, and much more!

Multiversity Comics will host The Big NYCC Party with a bevy of Image Comics creators! Swing by the Houndstooth Pub on 8th Ave between 36th and 37th (a short 3-block walk from the Javits Center) on Friday from 8 PM to midnight. A $10 donation to the Hero Initiative will get you in. It’s a 21+ event, and will assuredly be a fun place for friends, fans and creators to meet, share a drink and mingle. Attendees will include Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples (Saga), Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore (Luther Strode), and Sina Grace, whose new graphic novel Not My Bag will be debuting at NYCC! Stick around, and a few unexpected additional guests might pop in!
On Saturday, Hero is the ONLY place to meet legendary artist Al Plastino. Al started working on Superman in 1948, and is also the co-creator of Superboy, Supergirl, and the Legion of Super-Heroes. So swing by booth #1575-#1577 and don’t miss out!

iFanboy teams up again with our friends at Shirts for a Cure to throw an awesome party on Friday, October 12th from 9:00 PM till close and help in the fight against breast cancer. Comic book superstars Rick Remender (Uncanny X-Force, Fear Agent, Uncanny Avengers) and Jerome Opeña (Uncanny X-Force, Fear Agent, Avengers) will step up to the turntables to DJ the party. You can also look forward to iFanboy’s very own Ron Richards (DJ Ronxo) taking a turn behind the virtual turntables. Proceeds from drinks will go charity to help fight breast cancer! Come early because last year’s party was so packed that some people had to move to a second, spill-over bar. This has got the makings of yet another epic iFanboy party that you don’t want to miss!

TNT’s epic drama Falling Skies makes its debut appearance at Emerald City Comicon this year. Watch a never-before-seen clip from the season 2 premiere episode and hear from the show’s actors and producers about the new season. Falling Skies, basic cable’s #1 new series of 2011, is set to return this June to continue its extraordinary story about life and survival in the wake of a catastrophic alien invasion. Noah Wyle (ER) stars as Tom Mason, a former college professor and father of three, who has become an unlikely leader for the 2nd Massachusetts civilian resistance group. The series chronicles the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. Falling Skies comes to TNT from DreamWorks Television and is executive-produced by Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Television heads Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.
