Cincinnati Comic Expo 2018 Announces 1st Guests

Cincinnati Comic Expo has announced their first guests for this year’s show, to be held on September 14-16, 2018! Tickets are on sale now.

The Kingslayer is Coming to the Queen City

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, best known for his role as Jaime Lannister on HBO’s Game of Thrones, will be making a rare U.S. convention appearance and attending all three days of the 2018 Cincinnati Comic Expo! Nikolaj’s many film credits in numerous genre include Gods of Egypt, The Other Woman, Oblivion, Mama, and Black Hawk Down.

Get your admission passes to meet Nikolaj, who will be on hand for autographs and photo-ops will the fans throughout the weekend.

Cobie Smulders Makes Her First Trip to Cincinnati

Fans can now tell their family and friends “How I Met Cobie Smulders” when they see her at the upcoming Cincinnati Comic Expo! Following her big break of nine seasons on How I Met Your Mother, Cobie is currently cast as Agent Maria Hill in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Between portraying Agent Hill in The Avengers, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Cobie has appeared in other projects, such as The Lego Movie, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, and Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Meet Cobie on Saturday and Sunday to get an autograph and photo-op at the Expo this September.

Guest Thomas Grummett Kickoffs the Artist Lineup

Comic artist Tom Grummett will be attending the 2018 Cincinnati Comic Expo. Grummett’s work with both DC and Marvel is recognized in The New Titans, The Adventures of Superman, Superboy, The Power Company, Robin, and Thunderbolts. Following those projects, Grummett was an artist working with writer Chris Claremont on 2009’s and 2010’s X-Men Forever comic series.

Cincinnati Comic Expo Welcomes Guest Artist Rick Leonardi

The lineup of comic guests at the Expo continues to grow with the addition of Rick Leonardi. Rick has a long career with Dark Horse, DC, and Marvel working on numerous titles including Cloak and Dagger, The Uncanny X-Men, The New Mutants, Nightwing, Batgirl, Superman, and others. In addition, Rick is known for his work on Star Wars: General Grievous and Superman Returns Prequel, which tied in with the featured films.

The Albany Comics and Toy Show is a twice a year event in the Capital District of Albany in Upstate New York. Now in it’s 7th year. Hero Initiative hits Phoenix Comicon with Special Guest Rick Leonardi & Wonder Woman 100 Live Auction

Hero Initiative, the charity that helps comic book creators in medical and financial need, will hit the Phoenix Comicon in a HUGE way at the Phoenix Convention Center May 25-May 28.

Special guest artist Rick Leonardi will be at the Hero booth, #396-398, Friday through Sunday. Rick has been entertaining comic fans for 30 years on titles ranging from Cloak and Dagger to Uncanny X-Men, so make sure you swing by the booth for sketches and autographs!

And Hero’s MASSIVE event will be the second stage of The Wonder Woman 100 Project auctions! You can swing by the booth to view 37 original Wonder Woman covers and bid on them in an exciting auction on Saturday, May 27th at 6:00 PM in Room 127C in the convention center. In addition, artists across the floor will be raising money for Hero all weekend. HEROES CONVENTION was founded in 1982 by Shelton Drum, owner of Charlotte’s Heroes Aren’t Hard To Find comics shop. Since then the convention has become famous for its comics-first and family-friendly atmosphere, where fans can mingle directly with professionals and exhibitors. Billy Tucci A Child is Born

It is the return of the Philadelphia Comic-Con on Sunday November 20th.  The comic book convention is held at the Ramada Philadelphia Airport located at 76 Industrial Highway (Route 291) in Essington, PA 19029.  The hotel is conveniently located between exits 8 and 9A off of I-95.  It is also close to I-76,I-476 and most bridges from New Jersey.  Show hours are 10 AM to 4 PM.  Admission is only $3 per person.  Students of any age are admitted free with a current id.  Also admitted free are active military personnel and their families.   Parking is also free on premises.  For those of you that do not drive Septa Bus Route 37 stops directly in front of the hotel.

It is quite a site to behold with 60+ tables at the show in the 4,500 square foot ballroom of the hotel.  Dealers from 6 states setup there selling, buying and even trading with collectors. Thousands and thousands of comic books from the 1940’s to present day will be for sale at the show.  Also available will be collecting supplies, graphic novels, action figures, statues, non-sportcards, dvd’s and original artwork.  The show has become a fan favorite for years with people travelling up to 3 hours one way just to shop at the show.

Special guest artists this month are Bill Tucci, Rob Feldman and Rick Leonardi.  Bill is the creator of Shi which since its inception has seen over 25 million comic books in print along with a whole host of related merchandise and tie in issues with Marvel and Image Comics.  A “Shi” movie is in the works with Tia Carrerre already signed on to star in this feature film project.  Bill’s latest project is an entire graphic novel based on the nativity.  This show will be the East Coast debut of his latest book.  More information on Bill can be found at  Rob is a locally based artist/web developer who’s creation Dr. Shroud has garnered an international audience with interest from Hollywood in optioning his work for an upcoming movie.    More information on Doctor Shroud can be found at  Rick’s vast work in the comic industry since 1980 has garnered the respect from all artists in the field.  His work has encompassed most major characters from DC and Marvel Comics.  He also co-designed the black costume that Spider-Man wore in the “Secret Wars” storyline which later became the hugely popular character Venom.

Press Release: Heroes Convention is preparing for one of the LARGEST Guest Lists in it’s 28 year history this June 4-6!  Pack your bags and gas up the car, because this will be one of our greatest shows of all time!  Making their First Appearance at Heroes Con this year are J. Scott Campbell, Brian Bolland, Humberto Ramos, Jimmy Cheung, and Rob Liefeld!  They’ll be joining the Heroes Con Family of regular All-Stars like Adam Hughes, Tony Harris, Frank Cho, Brandon Peterson, Mark Brooks, Tommy Lee Edwards, Phil Noto, Cully Hamner, and tons more!!

Long-time favorites like Ron Garney, Rick Leonardi, and Michael Golden are returning, as well as West Coast heavy-hitters like Mike Mignola, Tim Sale, Dustin Nguyen, Eric Canete, and Sean “Cheeks” Galloway.  It’s insane!!  Now we just have to figure out where to put everybody!  One thing is for sure, this all points to a stellar Art Auction on Saturday night!!

Also in 2010, Indie Island is stronger than ever with Jill Thompson, Evan Dorkin, Scott Morse, Jim Mahfood, and Kate Beaton onboard!  Like in previous years, there will be lots of exclusive artwork for Indie Island and always the coolest t-shirts!  In addition to the new wave of Indie folks, we’ll also host some of the all-time greats of the Independent Creators like James O’Barr, David Mack, Brian Pulido, and Joseph Michael Linsner!  It’s a powerhouse lineup this year!!
And, yes, even with EVERY artist in the comics industry in attendance (nearly!), we also get to have some of the most awesome writers in the world at Heroes Con, like Bill Willingham, Mark Waid, Christos Gage, Steve Niles, Jeff Parker, and the legendary Roy Thomas!
One thing we always try to do is to bring in the Artists and Writers that we get the most requests for, and this year we’re REALLY excited to have lined up several of the MOST requested of all time!  In addition to Campbell, Bolland, and Willingham, we can also confirm Kevin Maguire is finally making his first appearance at Heroes Con!  Joining Kevin in making their much-desired first appearance is Ben Templesmith, Todd Nauck, and Talent Caldwell!  It’s great to have these guys at Heroes Con!
As always, we could stage a major Battle Royal between all the Heavy Hitters from DC and Marvel at the show!  This year, from Marvel Comics we have Steve Epting, Mike McKone, Tom Raney, Mike Choi, and Skrappy Skottie Young!  From DC Comics, we have the Ever-Lovin’ Ethan Van Sciver, Mark Bagley, Billy Tucci, and Stephane Roux!  Lucky for us, if a Pier-Six Brawl should break out, we’ll have grappler Mick Foley in the house to keep things under control!  Mick (better known to some as Cactus Jack or Mankind) will be here on Saturday to make a big announcement at the 12 Gauge Comics booth!
