UK – Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Signing

Reinhard Kleist appears in conversation with David Quantick at Gosh Comics on Saturday the 14th of April, 7:30 – 9:00 PM to celebrate the launch of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds: An Art Book!

In his graphic biography Nick Cave: Mercy on Me, Reinhard Kleist paints an expressive and enthralling portrait of the musician, novelist, poet and actor. It is, according to Nick Cave himself, “a complex, chilling and completely bizarre journey into Cave World”.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds: An Art Book collects Kleist’s moody and expressive portraits of the musician and his band, spanning thirty years of writing, recording and live performance. Kleist also returns us to Nick Cave’s imaginative world with comic book reimaginings of “Deanna”, “The Good Son” and “Stagger Lee”.

Filled with visual delights, this record-sized art book is a kaleidoscopic portrait of Nick Cave’s wide-ranging career as a storyteller, musician and cultural icon.

Reinhart Kleist’s award-winning graphic novels include Johnny Cash: I See a Darkness, The Olympic Dream: The Story of Samia Yusuf Omar, and Castro: A Graphic Novel.

David Quantick is a writer and journalist whose recent work includes work on Veep with Armando Iannucci and How to Be a Writer: Conversations With Writers About Writing.

Selfmade Heroes signing

ILYA, Mark Stafford, and Reinhard Kleist appear at Gosh! Comics on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm!

Press Release:

British Comics Month Presents: First up in our line up for March, we have a Selfmade Hero Spring Party, featuring ILYA, Mark Stafford, and Reinhard Kleist. ILYA and Stafford are both well-known faces of the UK comics scene and have launched their respective books Room For Love and The Man Who Laughs (written by David Hine) here at Gosh! late last year. Now they will be here again to sign and chat to fans, with Reinhard Kleist, German cartoonist and creator of the ever-popular comic biographies Johnny Cash and Castro. Kleist has turned his beautiful brush-work style to his new book, The Boxer: a biography of Hertzko Haft, a native Pole who survived the concentration camps of Nazi Germany and later emigrated to the Unites States to become a professional boxer. There’s some info on it here…

The book will be available from Gosh! on the day of the launch, and Kleist will be here to sign & chat. On top of that, there will be refreshments of the alcoholic sort, to emphasise the “Party” in “Spring Party”. Let’s hope the weather will emphasise the “Spring” part, too.

The Selfmade Hero Spring Party will take place on Friday, the 7th of March, from 7pm to 9pm. Also, from the 3rd through to the 9th of March, customers will be able to get 25% off all Selfmade Hero books!
