The guest of honor at the November 27th East Hanover Comic Book Expo is Ray Lago!

To say that his talent is underrated is a gross understatement…

For nearly three decades, Ray Lago has been a professional illustrator for clients such as Reader’s Digest, Scott Forsman and Scholastic, and for comic book industry giants like Marvel and DC. His early career  also included employment as a Graphic Design Engineer with NBC News, ABC News, and PBS’ News Hour.He has been a prolific artist for the comic book industry, creating covers and trading cards for Spider-Man, The X-Men, Superman, Vampirella, Predator, Robocop, StarWars and scores of others. Painted story credits include Marvel’s Open Space series and Hellraiser series, Ivanhoe for First/Classics Illustrated, “Ask Any Mermaid” in NBM’s Skin Tight Orbit vol. 2, Harris Comics’ Vampirella 25th Anniversary Special and Shi: Masquerade for Crusade. For several years Ray devoted much of his time to painting the revived Little Annie Fanny feature for Playboy magazine, along with writer/cartoonist and fellow Kean alumni Don Wimmer. Ray is also well known for illustrating Magic gaming cards for Wizards of the Coast.

Currently, Ray continues to work as an illustrator in the comics and gaming industries and is an Adjunct Professor for the Illustration Department at New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology.

The first collection of his work, Ray Lago: Heroes & Angels (Archangel Entertainment), was published in 1998. The second collection, a volume of drawings, Ray Lago Sketchbook I: Drawn to Beauty (Big Wow Art) was published in 2003.

More guests have been added to the 20th anniversary Clifton NJ Comic Book Expo on Sunday, November 13th. 
They include Paul Castiglia, Tom Hall, Rick Man and Nick Mockoviak.
Paul Castiglia
Paul Castiglia has been writing and editing comics and pop culture articles for over 20 years for publishers including Archie, DC and Dark Horse. Among Paul’s many credits are writing the “Archie’s Weird Mysteries” comic series, editing the “Archie Americana” series of classic paperback reprints, and writing stories starring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Tom Hall is the writer and co-creator of the award-winning “R-13″ (aka “Robot 13″) and “KING!” The digital version of “R-13″ has the distinction of being one of the most-downloaded independent digital comic offerings of all-time.
Rick Man
Rick Man is a graphic designer, illustrator and comic artist.  His most recent work includes “Toteman”, an PSA comic devoted to informing the public about epilepsy.
Nick Mockoviak
Nick Mockoviak is a fan favorite indy artist and illustrator whose prints are so well priced that they usually sell out at any given show.

The guest of honor at the November 13th Clifton NJ Comic Book Expo 20th anniversary event will be Archie Comics’ artist Fernando Ruiz.  For more than a decade, Mr. Ruiz has been a top artist for the most positive and family-friendly of all comic book publishers.  Just over a year ago, Archie Comics introduced their first gay character, Kevin Keller.  He has quickly risen to become second in popularity among fans to only Archie himself!  Come January, Mr. Ruiz will be the artist of one of the most groundbreaking comics stories published in the entire history of the medium… Life With Archie #16 will feature the marriage of Kevin Keller, the first gay marriage ever featured in any mainstream comic book!  Mr. Ruiz will be available for free autographs throughout the day.  He will also drawing commissioned sketches as time allows.

The hourly door prizes for the 20th anniversary Clifton NJ Comic Book Expo on Sunday, November 13th have been announced!

At 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 the following comics will be randomly given away: Daredevil #2, Superman #199, Sandman #1, Daredevil #168 and a first printing of Origins of Marvel Comics (with dustjacket). These books have graciously been provided below cost for the event by one of the show’s favorite dealers, Mike Williams.

Admission to the show is totally free and no purchase whatsoever is required to win. The rules are simple: every attendee that wishes to participate agrees to provide contact information (not to be shared with the public), and also agrees to allow their photo to be used on the NJ Comic Book Shows website and in promotional material if they win. Chances are limited to one per person and the winner must be present when the number is drawn. (Dealers, their employees, employees of Pug Productions or NJ Comic Book Shows or anyone who been one within the past six months are not eligible.)
