Record Crowds Indulged Their Inner Geek at Puerto Rico Comic Con 2016

The Annual Event Showcased Top Names From Hollywood, Comics, Animation, Video Games, and Other Areas of the Entertainment World

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO–(May 24, 2016) –  Well over 40,000 fans from all over the world indulged their passion for pop culture, entertainment and fun-under-the-Caribbean sun at Puerto Rico Comic Comic Con (PRCC) this past weekend, May 20-22 The three-day event, which just wrapped up its 14th year, featured a slate of entertainment industry guests, covering the gamut from television and film, to videogames, collectibles, anime, cosplay and more.

“Based on what we are hearing from our fans, special guests, exhibitors and retailers, this year’s Con was a success by all measures. We are extremely grateful to everyone for having helped Puerto Rico Comic Con become the region’s largest and most important entertainment event, and look forward to even bigger and better experiences in the years ahead,” said Ricardo Carrion, executive producer of PRCC.

Something for everyone. From science fiction and fantasy, to Japanese animation, independent art, videogame, TV, movies, and memorabilia, Puerto Rico Comic Con had something for everyone. Conventiongoers not only roamed the main exhibition hall of the Puerto Rico Convention Center decked out in their favorite cosplay, visiting the hundreds of exhibitor booths. They also took in engaging Q&A panels with their favorite artists, as well as photos and autographs, including Lana Parrilla, who is of Puerto Rican descent and best known for her portrayal of Regina Mills/Evil Queen in the ABC-TV series “Once Upon a Time”; and Lyndsy Fonseca, famous for her roles in both “Kick-Ass” movies and TV’s “Marvel’s Agent Carter” and “How I Met Your Mother”.

Fans also couldn’t get enough of Puerto Rico Comic Con’s other marquee guests, which included veteran comic book artist John Romita, Jr., PRCC’s first Guest of Honor; Jessica Nigri, international cosplayer and model; comic book artist and five-time Eisner Award winner Eric Powell, creator of “The Goon” series; voice actress Laura Bailey (“Silent Hill,” “Final Fantasy XIII”); voice actor Travis Willingham (“Fullmetal Alchemist”); Deborah Philips and Kerrigan Mahan (“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”); international cosplayer LeeAnna Vamp, and official Star Wars novelist Claudia Gray.

A Con in Paradise. Each year people from all over the Americas come to Puerto Rico Comic Con, as the event stands out from other cons for its idyllic location. The island of Puerto Rico is a Caribbean paradise featuring a year-round tropical climate. As a U.S. territory, no passport is required for travel from the U.S. mainland. Couple that with entertainment geekdom over three days, and it’s a win-win situation for fans. Dan DiDio to delight fans at the largest pop culture/entertainment convention in the Caribbean region

San Juan, Puerto Rico – Dan DiDio, the famed comic book writer, editor and publisher, and current Co-Publisher of DC Comics along with Jim Lee, confirmed that he will be among the special guest lineup at the Puerto Rico Comic Con (PRCC), to be held on May 26 and 27 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center. The event is the Caribbean region’s largest and most important pop culture event.

DiDio, an industry veteran and pioneer best known as the man behind the reboot of all current DC comics and as the co-writer of the new OMAC series, will share his knowledge, experiences, stories, anecdotes, insights, and work with conventions goers.

Joe “Mad” Madureira set to take the Caribbean by storm

The famed writer/artist/videogame creator makes rare appearance at a major convention

Michael Golden Guest of Honor at Puerto Rico ComiCon This Weekend!

San Juan, PR–We are pleased to announce that Michael Golden has been named the Artist Guest of Honor for this weekend’s premiere comics events in San Juan, PR–The Puerto Rico ComiCon!

“I’m very honored to be invited to attend the show this year,” said Michael, “And meet my friends in Puerto Rico. I am also happy to see such a healthy community interested in sequential art here on the island, and meet fans that I haven’t met before. That is always gratifying.”

Touted for his groundbreaking storytelling and cover construction, Golden is known for his unique art style that a various times seems detailed and at other times seems to be amazingly streamlined–cutting away the excess and maintaining the true essentials of a piece. These techniques, coupled with that signature storytelling construction garner him a legion of devotees that number not only comic readers, but other artists as well.

Co-creator of the X-Men’s Rogue character, Golden’s work has appeared in the ‘Nam, Micronauts, G.I. Joe Yearbook, Dr. Strange, Nightwing, Detective, Heroes for Hire, Exiles, Demon’s Regret and Iron Man among much more. Golden, modestly never says which is his own personal favorite project. However, according to one art dealer, “Everybody in the business has been influenced by Golden’s Dr. Strange”. Michael himself admits that more artists that say he has an influence on their illustration career, do single out that influential project.|

Other milestones in Golden’s career include the co-creation of Bucky O’Hare, witch led to an animated series and toy line designed by Michael, as well as Spartan X with Editor/Writer Renee Witterstaeter, who is also attending the show this year!

At the show, Mr. Golden will be sketching, signing books, and offering his new art book: “Michael Golden: More Heroes and Villains,” to the fans at the PRCC!

The Puerto Rico Comic Con is THE premier entertainment event in Puerto Rico. A two day show with exhibitors and dealers of : Comics, Toys, Anime, Manga, Video games, Strategic and Card games, Movies, etc. This is the biggest comic convention in Puerto Rico, hands down!
