NEW DOCUMENTARY NECESSARY EVIL: VILLAINS OF DC COMICS
LEGENDARY VILLAIN CHRISTOPHER LEE NARRATES
BURBANK, CA (March 26, 2013) – The Joker, Bane, Deathstroke, Darkseid and Lex Luthor — the scariest and most menacing villains in DC Comics’ universe — take center stage in a brand new full-length documentary from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (WBHE) and DC Entertainment (DCE). The joint announcement was made today by WBHE and DCE.
Christopher Lee, who has played the villain more times than almost any other actor, will provide his unique voice as narrator. His roles in more than 200 films include star turns as Dracula, the Mummy and Frankenstein’s monster in Hammer horror classics, Count Dooku in Star Wars, and Saruman in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit films.
In this new documentary film, the malevolent, sometimes charismatic figures from DC Comics’ hallowed rogues’ gallery will be explored in depth, featuring interviews with the famed creators, storytellers and those who have crafted the personalities and profiles of many of the most notorious villains in comic book history.
Production begins March 30, to coincide with WonderCon at the Anaheim Convention Center March 29-31.
Noted Geoff Johns, best-selling author and DCE’s Chief Creative Officer, “DC Comics is known for many things, but chief among them is the compelling, diverse and legendary society of super-villains who populate its universe. From the monstrous Solomon Grundy to the brutal Black Adam to the charismatic Sinestro, there is no single greater collection of villainy in all of fiction. These villains are hugely popular comic book characters in their own right and, quite honestly, many are often times more popular than some of our iconic super heroes.”
Jeff Baker, WBHE’s Executive Vice President and General Manager, Theatrical Catalog, added “The DC brand is enjoying a huge resurgence thanks to the entire leadership team at DC Entertainment which is driving opportunities not only for new theatrical properties, but for brand extensions as well. This new documentary will reinforce this evolving strategy and leverage DC assets across the entire studio landscape.”
Johns also reiterated that this year’s initiative will be a turning point for DCE. “It’s time we deconstruct these complex and sinister antagonists and celebrate the role they play as the engine and energy of some of the greatest storytelling in comics. 2013 is the Year of the Villain at DC Comics.”
On Saturday, March 30th, fans attending WonderCon are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite DC Comics’ villain for an opportunity to be featured in the documentary Fans can join DCE at WonderCon at booth 801 with filming to take place Saturday from 10:30am – Noon. Joe Quinones is a relative newcomer to the industry, having first been published by DC Comics for their now defunct Teen Titans GO series in 2007. He is probably best known for his collaboration with writer Kurt Busiek on the Green Lantern serial for Mark Chiarello’s Eisner Award-winning Wednesday Comics. Since then, Joe has illustrated a number of covers and short stories for DC, Marvel, and Dark Horse, with a current cover run on Captain Marvel. Joe also has some unannounced interior work on the horizon, as well as a Zatanna/Black Canary graphic novel, written by Paul Dini, due out at the end of 2013.

With stunning covers from Jason Shawn Alexander (Empty Zone, Abe Sapien), this limited four-issue series marks Corey Taylor’s debut in the comics genre. “I’ve been a die-hard fan of comics, on every level, my entire life,” says Taylor. “This has been a dream of mine for years now, and this project was tailor made for a comic, no pun intended. I couldn’t have picked a better company than Dark Horse to make this a reality. I have loved several of their titles for many years, going back to ’92. House of Gold & Bones is a unique multimedia experience which includes two Stone Sour albums via Roadrunner Records (release date for Part 1 is October 22, with Part 2 following in 2013), videos, online presence, creative album packaging, live shows, and now the Dark Horse Comics series. Each element will follow and expand on the story. Taylor, already an internationally best-selling author, courtesy of last year’s Seven Deadly Sins, wrote the story—as well as the lyrics for the twenty-three tracks that make up the two albums—as a linear story line. The Stone Sour songs set the tone and follow the action, with Taylor’s House of Gold & Bones comic expanding on the story.

STARWARP CONCEPTS RETURNS FOR NEW YORK COMIC CON 2012
After a successful appearance at last year’s edition of New York’s premier comics and pop culture gathering, independent publishing house StarWarp Concepts—home of critically acclaimed dark-urban-fantasy books and graphic novels—returns for the 2012 New York Comic Con, being held on October 11–14 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
Booth #2139 is where you’ll find bestselling author Steven A. Roman (X-Men: The Chaos Engine Trilogy) promoting The Saga of Pandora Zwieback—a young adult novel series about a teenaged Goth who teams up with an immortal shape-shifter to hunt monsters—and Lorelei: Sects and the City, a Mature Readers graphic novel that reintroduces StarWarp Concepts’ first horror heroine.

Hallmark Announces Return to New York Comic Con
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct.5, 2012) – Hallmark announces its return to New York Comic Con International at the Javits Center (Oct. 11-14), the East Coast’s biggest popular culture convention. Attendees will have access to Comic Con-exclusive Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments, visits with a Keepsake Ornament artist and receive a sneak peek of products to be released in 2013.
During the convention, Hallmark will sell limited quantities of the following Keepsake Ornaments:
- 4-LOM and Zuckuss: This two-pack features the criminal droid 4-LOM and Gand tracking expert Zuckuss from “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes BackTM.” Created exclusively for event sales, 4-LOM and Zuckuss are the last bounty hunters depicted in the film to become Keepsake Ornaments. Limited run of 800 sets ($35 per set).

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 and The Batmobile documentary will be the spotlight offerings from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment at New York Comic Con.
Attendees of the Con will be the first to see footage from Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2, the highly anticipated epic animated conclusion to Frank Miller’s landmark story. On Saturday, October 13 from 12:15-1:15 p.m. in the IGN Theater at the Jacob Javitz Center, executive producer Bruce Timm, dialogue/casting director Andrea Romano and special guests will discuss the making of the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie and show some tantalizing clips. Also anticipated during the panel is the announcement of the 2013 slate of DCU animated films. Produced by Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 will arrive from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment in early 2013.
An autograph session with Timm & Romano will follow the panel at 2:00 p.m. in the DC Entertainment booth.

The film gives a riveting, in-depth examination of the Batmobile – from the impressive history of all of the vehicles to the construction of this iconic character.
