HeroesCon is exactly one month away and guests are still being announced. This isn’t even the last guest list update before the show! We’re bursting at the seams! Get your tickets today! See the full guest list on the website!
We are happy to welcome Neal Adams back to HeroesCon this June 22-24! Thanks to everyone who attended last year and met Neal on his first visit to HeroesCon; you must have made a great impression! Neal is a legend in the comic book industry as much for his artwork as he is for crusading for the rights of fellow creators and striking out on his own when such a thing was unheard of. Neal’s career spans decades, from classic runs on characters like X-Men, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, and Batman to his current Batman: Odyssey. Be on the lookout for The First X-Men coming soon from Neal and writer (and fellow HeroesCon 2012 guest) Christos Gage! One of Jared Moraitis’ BeastWreck Shirts & Stuff was recently featured on an episode of NBC’s Community. Jared makes great shirts and if you buy two shirts at HeroesCon this year one of them should say BeastWreck on it! The other one will of course say HeroesCon or Indie Island.
Michel Fiffe is the creator of the comic series, Zegas, which he began publishing in 2011 as Copra Press. On top of writing and drawing Zegas, Fiffe has immersed himself in various comics projects such as editing the indie anthology Twisted Savage Dragon Funnies and conducting in-depth creator interviews for several institutions including The Comics Journal.
When he’s not working in animation, Dan Duncan is making comics. You’ve seen his art on the latest incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and on the beautifully painted covers of Xenoholics. Catch this guy before he and his crew are super famous and don’t have time for you. Ah, he’d make time anyway, Dan is a super nice guy.
Artist Tom Lyle is also returning to HeroesCon next month. Tom’s illustrated numerous books like Spider-man, Robin, Punisher and Batman. He’s also an instructor at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), who he’ll be setting up with again this year.
Jeffrey Brown had a recent hit with Darth Vader and Son, and is well known for other comics like The Incredible Change-Bots, Little Things, Clumsy, Unlikely and many more.
Tom Bancroft is a veteran artist in animation, storyboards and comics. He’s done design work for lots of big Disney films like Aladdin, Lion King and Mulan, and illustrated books like Opposite Forces and the art instruction book Creating Characters With Personality.
June Brigman and Roy Richardson are the married creators behind the past fifteen years of Brenda Starr. June is also known for her work on titles like Power Pack, Supergirl and an adaptation of the novel Black Beauty with Roy. Dennis Calero has been a go-to artist for many companies over the years. In addition to work on popular properties like 28 Days Later: The Aftermath, Calero’s also illustrated books like X-men: Noir, X-factor and Cowboys & Aliens. Michael Dolce is a comics writer who has worked on books like Grimm Fairy Tales, Descendant and Sire.
Zealand “Steve” Jones has been a character designer on animated shows such as Batman: Brave and The Bold, Justice League Unlimited, Batman Beyond, Superman, and the New Adventures of Batman. He also worked on Teen Titans, Legion of Superheroes, JL: The New Frontier DTV, JL: Crisis on 2 Earths DTV, Men In Black and G I Joe: Renegades. Currently , he is working on the new CG TMNT cartoon at Nickelodeon Studios. His pals Dan Panosianand Tim Townsend told him HeroesCon was a great show so he decided to make his first trip to the Queen City to check it out!
Drew Moss is currently drawing a story for Outlaw Territory Volume 3. He has also worked on Zombies VS Robots and The Baku.
Ethan Van Sciver has been a mainstay at DC for years now. He’s illustrated titles like Green Lantern, Green Lantern: Rebirth, Flash: Rebirth and most recently the new 52 title Fury of Firestorm.
David Antoine Williams made quite an impression last year at his first ever appearance at HeroesCon! See the image below for one of the reasons why! David has been keeping busy with covers for G.I. Joe, Cobra and tons of other stuff since we saw him last. Don’t miss this chance to meet and chat with the one and only “Brohawk”!
Neal Adams Making First Ever Dallas Appearance at May 2012 Dallas Comic Con
May 10, 2012 by Brian Pate
Filed under Comic Books, Convention News, Texas, Top Stories
Press Release:
Neal Adams makes first ever Dallas appearance at Dallas Comic Con 10th Anniversary, May 19-20
This May 19-20 sees the return of the Dallas Comic Con celebrating its 10th Anniversary, officially titled ‘Stan Lee presents Dallas Comic Con.’ Among the incredible guests attending is a very special creator – the one and only Neal Adams. When it comes to comic book artists, there are well-known names, and then there’s “legendary” status. Adams continually redefines the genre with innovative ideas and dramatic character interpretations. His takes on popular heroes like Batman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Superman have wowed readers and heavily influences multiple generations of illustrators. Some of earliest days found him turning in comic strips for BEN CASEY, based on the popular ABC series. But it would be his work at DC Comics that defined his fan base, beginning in the Silver Age with covers for titles like ACTION COMICS and SUPERMAN’S GIRLFRIEND LOIS LANE. His work on Deadman in STRANGE ADVENTURES became award-winning, and with good reason. Neal moved into Marvel work with X-MEN and THE AVENGERS. But some of his most treasured stories were found in BATMAN and DETECTIVE COMICS, as well as GREEN LANTERN/GREEN ARROW in the Bronze Age. Adams also became a strong advocate for creator rights, even helping SUPERMAN creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster receive long-overdue credit, and getting original pages returned to artist Jack Kirby. Neal even formed his own comic book imprint with Continuity Comics, and continues to inspire and influence artists and readers to this day.
DCC Event Manager Mark Walters notes, “It’s hard to believe an industry legend like Neal Adams has never appeared in a popular city like Dallas before, but thankfully this May 19-20 that will change. We’re incredibly honored to have Mr. Adams join us as a special guest for the 10-year Anniversary of the Dallas Comic Con… like many others would claim, he’s one of my heroes.”
Neal is appearing both days of the show, which also features guests like Stan Lee, Patrick Stewart, George Perez, Val Kilmer, Len Wein, James Marsters, Arthur Suydam, John de Lancie, Doug Sneyd, and Adam West and Burt Ward… to name but a few. VIP and 2-day priority passes are sold out, but General Admission tickets will be available at the show. You can find more information on the Dallas Comic Con at http://www.dallascomiccon.com

Press Release:
Legendary comic book creator Neal Adams signs at Graham Crackers Comics on Thursday, April 12th from 3:45pm – 5:15pm!
A champion of creators rights, an artist who’s style and vision helped redefine Super Heroes almost single handedly in the Silver-Age. His iconic works and covers moved Batman beyond the slapstick character that traveled to other planets and back to his pulp roots.
Neal will be bringing various graphic novels (Superman vs Muhammad Ali, Art of Neal Adams, DCs Batman Adams Archives, etc.) as well as various self published sketch books featuring page after page of never before seen Adams work that you can pick up and get personalized at the shop for free. Neal does not charge for his signature if you’re picking up an item at the shop, but if you do need to bring something in there will be a $5 charge to have outside items signed.
This is a rare opportunity for us to have one of our industries biggest names appearing in the store and we wanted to give you a heads up as quickly as possible, if there’s any way you can make it in to the shop this Thursday – it’s a meeting you won’t most likely ever forget, and we doubt we’ll ever get this lucky again.
