Wizard World Mid-Ohio Comic Con Set for October 22-23, 2011

Headline Guests Adam West, Burt Ward, Rob Liefeld Announced for 2011

NEW YORK and COLUMBUS, Ohio – Gareb Shamus, CEO of Wizard Entertainment, today announced the acquisition of Mid-Ohio-Con. The show will make its inaugural appearance on the Wizard World Tour circuit on the weekend of October 22-23, 2011 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, OH.

“We are thrilled to join the Wizard World Tour,” said James Henry, Managing Director of Mid-Ohio-Con. “We are excited to work with Gareb and the Wizard World team to produce Mid-Ohio Comic Con and we are confident that this partnership will result in a show that will delight fans, creators and exhibitors alike in 2011 and beyond.”

Wizard World Mid-Ohio Comic Con announced its first slate of guests for 2011, which includes “Batman” stars Adam West and Burt Ward as well as fan-favorite Image Comics creator Rob Liefeld. “I’m in,” said Liefeld. “I’ve never been to Mid-Ohio before….make it a big deal!” Stay tuned for additional headline guest announcements in the coming months.

Mid-Ohio-Con is one of America’s longest-running and most successful comic book and pop-culture conventions, carrying on a fun and family-oriented tradition of bringing fans of all ages together with leading comic book writers and artists, film and television stars and creators, and publishers and retailers from across the nation.

2010 marked Mid-Ohio-Con’s 30th anniversary show which included guests of honor David Finch and Adam Hughes along with featured media guests Michael Berryman and Lou Ferrigno and more than 100 creators from the worlds of comics, film, gaming and television. The show had record attendance and has received acclaim from exhibitors, fans and guests as the best in its long history.

Hero Initiative celebrates Mid-Ohio Con’s 30th year!

For Immediate Release: (November 2, 2010) Hero Initiative will celebrate Mid-Ohio Con’s 30th year as one of America’s longest-running and most successful comic book and pop-culture conventions! Heroine will be available for $25 at the con, and will be $26 when it goes live on the BPAL site in late November.

Columbus, OH– Mid-Ohio Con not only lives up to it’s geographical name, but this is one convention that also has it’s thumb right in the middle of pop culture and comics, and this fave Fall convention is BACK, November 6th and 7th! Joining the artistic line-up for the show will be comics creators Michael Golden, Mark Texeira, and Steve Scott!

Michael Golden is known for many titles in his artistic legacy, notably as being co-creator of Rogue, Bucky O’Hare, Spartan X, Marionette, Bug, and more beloved characters. His storytelling work is touted in such books as “The ‘Nam,” “Doctor Strange,” “Avengers,” “G.I. Joe,” and much more. You can see his recent work on covers for Marvel Comics, and more storytelling is in the works as well, currently collaborating with Todd McFarlane!

Michael has recently been honored with “Lifetime Achievement Awards” from the Lille Comics Festival as well as the University of Maryland Eastern Show. Gallery shows on Mr. Golden have been mounted in places as diverse as Antwerp, Gijon and Barcelona. A 45 piece gallery show is currently installed at UMES until December 2nd, while an another gallery show is slated to begin in Madrid in December.

Fine art painter and storyteller Mark Texeira is known for his stunning covers on so many Marvel comics, it would be hard to name them all. Titles routinely associated with his name include “Ghost Rider,” “Black Panther,” “Moonknight,” and much more. Recently, Mark just completed a Punisher mini-series that will hit stands soon, as well as a few other projects for the Big M. His covers have also recently appeared as frontage for Vampirella and numerous other titles.

Marks work has been featured in gallery shows in Charlotte, as well as Illustration House and The Society of Illustrators in Manhattan.

Artist Steve Scott has just finished penciling an exciting Batman project that is on stands NOW, and his issue of “Batman Confidential” hit to rave reviews! Known for his work on “Indiana Jones,” “She-Hulk,” “Hulk,” “JLA,” “X-Men,” and much more, you can see a preview of Steve’s Batman project on newsarama at:

She will also have copies of her film book “Dying for Action: The Life and Films of Jackie Chan,” as well as copies of her numerous comic book work to choose from, including “Spartan X.”

Mid-Ohio-Con Announces $1,000 Costume Contest Prize Package

Columbus, OH – October 26, 2010 – Mid-Ohio-Con today announced details of the prize package for its 2010 Costume Contest. “The costume contest is always one of the most popular attractions for Mid-Ohio-Con and this year should be no exception. In addition to the amazing superhero, sci-fi and fantasy costumes, we’re really excited to see a Zombie hoard for our special category The Walking Dead.“ said James Henry, Managing Director of Mid-Ohio-Con.

The Mid-Ohio-Con Costume Contest will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 6th and will feature $1,000 in prize money. Always one of the most popular events at the show, the contest is sure to be fantastic fun for contestants and spectators alike. Prizes for the Mid-Ohio-Con 2010 Costume Contest will include

Mid-Ohio-Con Names Arthur Suydam as Special Guest for 30th Anniversary Show

Columbus, OH – October 15, 2010 – Mid-Ohio-Con announced that acclaimed artist Arthur Suydam has joined the guest roster for Mid-Ohio-Con 2010. “We are very pleased to add Arthur to the Mid-Ohio-Con 2010 guest list. We’ve really dialed things up for our 30th anniversary and we’re looking forward to an amazing turnout on the weekend of November 6-7, 2010 in Columbus, OH.” said James Henry, Managing Director of Mid-Ohio-Con.

Arthur Suydam rose to super stardom with his work on the smash hit series Marvel Zombies, which broke graphic novel sales records and immediately established the artist as a comic legend. Suydam’s popular work has also graced the covers of Deadpool, Marvel Zombies Dead Days, Marvel Zombies 2, Marvel Zombies 3, Wolverine, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Ghost Rider, Thor, Army of Darkness vs. Marvel Zombies, Batman, Batman vs. Predator, Conan the Barbarian, Tarzan, Savage Tales, and House of Secrets.

Suydam has been lauded for his work with awards that include the Spike TV Scream Award (Best Writer, Best Artist, Best Comic of the Year) and the inclusion of his short story Christmas Carol in The Mammoth Book of Horror and Legends for Best Comic Horror Stories of All Time.
