In twelve-year-old Giacomo’s Renaissance-inspired world, art is powerful, dangerous, and outlawed. A few artists possess Geniuses, birdlike creatures that are the living embodiment of an artist’s creative spirit. Those caught with one face a punishment akin to death, so when Giacomo discovers he has a Genius, he knows he’s in serious trouble. Luckily, he finds safety in a secret studio where young artists and their Geniuses train in sacred geometry to channel their creative energies as weapons. But when a murderous artist goes after the three Sacred Tools–objects that would allow him to destroy the world and everyone in his path―Giacomo and his friends must risk their lives to stop him.

Comedian/writer Brian Posehn (Deadpool, The Last Christmas) appears at Summit Sports, Comics & Games on Thursday June 23rd  at 5:00 PM to sign your stuff prior to his show at CS3.

No cost. You can bring your books that you want signed or books will be available for purchase.

Brian co-starred in Universal’s feature, The Five-Year Engagement, directed by Nick Stoller and produced by Judd Apatow and in the popular Canadian indie comedy, Lloyd the Conqueror. In the last year he has done guest spots on the sitcoms, The Big Bang Theory, Guys With Kids, and Anger Management. He also starred for three seasons in Comedy Central’s popular show, The Sarah Silverman Program, and toured as one of the original members of the Comedians of Comedy.

Besides writing and performing on HBO’s acclaimed Mr. Show, he has appeared in sitcoms such as Just Shoot Me, Seinfeld, NewsRadio, Californication, Everybody Loves Raymond and Friends. He also has an extensive resume in voice-acting including Surf’s Up, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Adventure Time, Metalocalypse, Bobs Burgers, Mission Hill and American Dad.

Creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino appear on a panel at Gallery Nucleus on Saturday March 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM for the closing of the Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra retrospective exhibit.

Back for the closing reception, creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino will be in the gallery for a short moderated Q and A panel and talking a bit about their creative process. Bryan and Mike will be available for signing after the panel for guests only.

2 – 3 new tribute pieces will be on display in the main gallery. In our atrium gallery, will be original Avatar the Last Airbender development artwork by Bryan Konietzko, not previously exhibited.

Aang statues and new exclusive prints of select works in the exhibition will be released for the first time to attendees of the panel.

RI – RISD Animation Lecture

Animation artists Bryan Konietzko and Phil Rynda speak at the Rhode Island School of Design on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 7:30pm!

The Illustration Department is very pleased to announce a joint talk by award-winning artists Bryan Konietzko and Phil Rynda. The lecture is free and open to the general public, though seating is limited, so please arrive early!

Bryan Konietzko will give a slide lecture at RISD’s Main Auditorium on Wednesday, February 4th, at 7:30pm. He will discuss the artwork and development that went into the five-year production of Legend of Korra, as well as provide advice for getting into and thriving within the animation industry.

Phil Rynda will talk about his career in animation as well as his character design process. Specifically Phil will talk about how and why he puts “character” and personality before design. He will show examples from his own work as well as other examples. All to be followed by an open Q+A.
